I want to say thank you to Cheri, Donna, Clyde and Ron for helping me with some ideas on how I might find my TEGG relatives in Washington. Does anyone have access to the Washington 1920 census? Thanks to you all, Jenny
Hi Ron: Thank you for doing some searching. DOB of Henry was 1873 in Channel Islands, and Ethel was 1896 in Oklahoma. Henry emmigrated to the US via Canada. I have no idea in what erea they lived in Washington. It appears that Peleg and his wife moved to Washington, probably because he and his father, Milo were lumbermen. I only have Peleg's birthdate, 1833 in NY and his reported death 9/20/1927. I also have his sister, Cecelia born 1844 reportedly living in Olympia. I'm not sure if her name was Celia Hall or Celia Cilley at the time of her death in 1897. Peleg's son, Alonzo died at the age of 20 and is buried in Adrian, Michigan. If the other Sheldons you listed are related to Peleg, I am not certain. Thank you for all your information, I deeply appreciate any and all assistance!

Jenny, If you have access to a Family History Center you could order the films for the WA state birth index for those years. That would tell you what location they were born in and you could then order the appropriate film for the birth certificate. I don't know if this index is available from another source or not. Hope this helps. I am attempting to decipher a post card with information on my grandfather, Irvin A GETTS - it says he was in "Dalano, Wash" - this could be "Dalaro" or something. He was threshing at "Larns Grain" or such. This post card was never mailed, and there is no date, but, from the ages of everyone, I would guess it was about 1905-1910 Thank you, Barbara Edkin
I would start with the 1920 census index. Also the LDS probably has birth records,so they should give you a location. He was the son of William and Luella Moore who were living in Arlington, Snhomish, Washington at the time. Garnet had 2 older sisters Jeanette and Gertrude. By 1910 he was living in Alder, Pierce, WA and was working as a teamster in a logging camp. After that I don't seem to have any information on him and am rather curious if he married or had children. Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated, thank-you.

In the 1860 census for Blissfield, Lenawee Co, they are shown with Alonzo age 2 and Elma 6/12. Peleg was a carpenter in both census. In the 1850 census, he is shown living with his father Milo Sheldon 45, mother Sophronia? 35, Abagail 18, Linidn? 11, Celia 6, Charley 4, Isaac N 6/12. I could not find them listed in any other census. I began searching each image for Olympia in the 1920 census, but time got short. They could have been in Olympia to be close to one of their children? If he died in 1927, he was about 94. In the 1920 census for Olympia, I find an "A.D. Sheldon" born in New York about 1873, as was Peleg. A "Lorenzo Sheldon" born in New York aout 1834. And a "Ralph Sheldon", born in Michigan about 1880. In the book "Brown's city directory of Adrian, Mich. : with a complete list of resident citizens, as [sic] also, a classified business directory, showing the address of merchants, manufacturers and those following the various pursuits and professions within the limits of our city Adrian, Mich.: C.E. Brown, 1870, 161 pgs. page, 131 is shown: "Sheldon Peleg, Carpenter J. Everiss, res. e. s. Ormsby, cor. Chesnut" This indicates he was working for J. Everiss and lived on east South Ormsby at the corner of Chesnut (spelling is correct, but probably was chestnut)

Whenever you ask for genealogy help, you HAVE to give some point of reference to aid in the search. For example when William Jelinek died, was that two years ago and Pauline was at Steilacoom? Or did he die in 1910? With that said, I found a William Jelinek, age 32, in the 1920 census for Nebraska, Custer Co, Elk Creek Township, District 85, enumerated on 13 January 1920. His wife was not readable, age 34. A daughter, Pauline, was 5. So she was born sometime in 1914, up to 12 January 1915. Is that the right person? If so, in the Washington Death Index, there was a Pauline Watson that died on 28 May 1950 in Pierce County at the age of 36. (She would have been born in 1914). If someone could visit the Tacoma Library and look for her obituary in the Tacoma Tribune microfilms, sometime in the first few days after her death. Reviewing the city directories for circa 1950 and before could also identify the name of her husband.

He was a druggist at a drug store; she was a clerk at a drug store. He was 33 at marriage and she as 27. In the 1920 census for Kent, King Co, WA, living on 125 Central Ave North is Robert S 47 and Florence 40. This shows she was born in the Cape Brilain Islands and immigrated in 1881, born to parents also born on the Cape Brilain Islands, Canada. I rechecked the 1930 census and the ages of Robert and Florence were 48 and 42, in the 1920 they were 47 and 40. I've seen many mistakes in the census, this is just another. The 1910 census shows Robert and "Flerena" living on 10th Avenue in District 80, 3rd Ward Seattle, King Co. He was 38, she was 28. They were married for six years. They were identified as having no children born and no children still living. The Washington Death Index shows Robert S. Fetridge, with a death date of 24 Feb 1940 at age 56. Florence was not listed. If Florence was born circa 1880/1882, she would have been 58/60 at the time of her husbands death. If, as you say, you had her living in Seattle in 1953, she would have been about 71/73. So, unless you had her as being remarried after Robert's death, it appears she stayed in the area and had no descendants. I ran the Social Security Death Index for any Florence, last known address, King Co, WA; born 18 Apr 1880, Florence Morgan, death Mar 1972 Born in 1881 were 16 Born in 1882 were 9 Born in 1883 were 10. None had a name similiar to Fetridge. If you have her birth date, the records could be rechecked to see if someone had the same birth date, then determine if she had remarried. I did check Western States Marriage Records...no success. Unless you have additional information, we've hit a wall.
