    1. Dunn, Malendeth Alfred (Dick/Calvin)
    2. Elizabeth Freeman
    3. Looking for Malendeth Alfred (Dick/Calvin) Dunn (b.1-1881 KS) believed to have died somewhere in WA. He is found on the 1930 census in Lewis County, WA living in the home of his brother, and with his two sons with him. He was in Torrance County, NM in 8-1925 when he went there to bury his 22 year old son who died while visiting relatives there. My thinking is Malendeth Alfred (sometimes called Dick or Calvin) died in WA. He was a widow on the 1930 census. Would like to locate his final death date/place and any researchers/descendants of the line..

    2. Elizabeth Freeman
    3. I am searching for reesearchers/descendants of the line of Malendeth Alfred (Dick) Dunn (b.1881 KS) and his wife Mable Louise (b.1884 TX). I know they had three children (Deloris-b.1908, Vernon-b.1910, and David-b.1914). They were in Beaver County, OK on the 1910 census. Dick registered for the draft in 1918 out of Beaver County, OK. I have not located him on the 1920 census nor his wife nor any of the kids. I have located Dick and the two sons on the 1930 census in Lewis Co., WA where some of his cousins lived and one of his brothers. His sister (Rose Dunn Noble Fleming) moved there in 1946 and died there in 1955. His brother, John Dunn, died there also. His father, William Harrison Dunn, died there in 1890 and is buried in the Salkum cemetery. Would like to make contact with any Dunn researcher/descendant who might be able to assist me in finding when/where Dick died and where he is buried. A brother, Charles Dallas (Dal) Dunn died in 1925 in Portland, OR.

    3. Thanks very much for your effort in my search for ALLEN relatives in the State of Washington. At one time I was told they lived in Walla Walla. The last time I saw J. D. was about 1952 or '53 here in Water Valley, Miss. All of his family gone except one niece in Texas who will not talk and I suppose Dorothy Joan. All of Pauline's family now gone as well. Birth and marriage information on this couple not available in local records. Again thanks for your effort. sincerely, Jim Allen. 1. [WA-L] Need Some Information - Thanks
    2. Elizabeth Freeman
    3. Ron: Yes, the 1910 census, the WW I draft reg. card, the 1930 census is all my guy. Malendeth (Dick) was a widow by the 1930 census. Vernon Dunn (his son) died in 1932 in NM while visiting there (appendicidis). I've not yet found out what became of his other son, David (born in 1914), nor his daughter Dorothy. The Johnny listed is a brother to Malendeth; the Katherine Dunn is a widow of a cousin. Like I say, I've narrowed down the date of death of Malendeth (Dick) Dunn to between 4-2-1930 and 9-6-1945 - most probably in WA. Right now I'm searching all the online cemetery listings (just on the off chance he can be found); and am checking every data base I can find. Trying to get into the WA archives has been a bummer for me. Every time it locks up my computer so I have just quit trying. Thanks for looking - one of these days I'll get lucky and find this dude Liz Freeman In Oklahoma!. 1910 Federal Census for Grand Valley, Beaver Co, Oklahoma Malendith A. 3. Most of us know the wonderful Cecil Houk... whose service to the genealogy world was as deep as his humor and his outspokedness... His obituary was sent in to the Oregon List and I thought it would be best to share this with you all Thank you Cecil and god bless your family Darilee "Houk, Don (KL.CBG)" <houk.don@jp.kline.com> wrote: Date: Tue, 11 Jul 2006 20:47:24 +0900 From: "Houk, Don \(KL.CBG\)" <houk.don@jp.kline.com> To: OREGON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [OREGON] Obituary Notice for Cecil HOUK For the information of List members, this is to advise that my cousin, Cecil Charles HOUK b.July 22, 1939 in Sisters, Deschutes Co., OR died at his home in San Diego, CA on Thursday, July 6, 2006 where his wife Rachel found him when she returned from work that evening. Although Rachel has a son and daughter by her earlier marriage, Cecil had no children of his own. Cecil was proceeded in death by his only brother Douglas Raymond Houk 1938-1997 and by his parents, George Douglas Houk 1909-1966 and Helen Edna (Rulaford) Houk 1908-1997. Although born in Sisters, OR Cecil lived most of his earlier years in Sweet Home, OR. For a number of years Cecil was quite active on various Oregon Lists, upsetting many with his independent ideas and sharp remarks, but also generously sharing family info that had been accumulated by his mother especially throughout her life on their early Oregon pioneer ancestors, including Nineveh Ford 1815-1897 who made trip west with Marcus Whitman in 1830's on one of Whitman's buying trips to MO for Whitman Missionary. Little did Nineveh Ford know at that time that one of his descendants, Cecil and my grandfather's sister Mary Elizabeth "Lizzy" Houk 1866-1929 would become wife of Sanford Stanley Pringle 1866-1904 whose mother Catherine Carney (Sager) Pringle 1835-1910 was survivor of that horrible November 1847 Whitman Massacre. Cecil has a number of websites commemorating his early pioneer Ancestors, one being dedicated to Capt. James Blakely 1812-1913 and his wife Sarah (Dick) Blakely 1815-1889 who were Cecil & my gr-gr-grandparents (Cecil's father being younger brother of my father Jacob Guy Houk). Through that website, Cecil and I have both had the opportunity to become acquainted with many others descended from Capt James Blakely who arrived in Linn Co., OR Terry. in 1846 and settled in what is today Brownsville, OR. It was Capt. Blakely who platted the town of Brownsville in 1860's and named it after his Uncle Hugh Leeper Brown 1810-1888 who had also brought his family west in 1846 with Capt. Blakely as Hugh Brown's wife Clarissa (Browning) Brown 1810-1898 was younger sister of Capt. Blakely's mother Jincy (Browning) Blakely c1790-c1867. To those of you who corresponded with Cecil over the years, both his wife Rachel and I express our warm appreciation as many of you became quite special friends with Cecil, helping him fill the void in his life after having spent 20 years in US Navy. 1. Washington Connections - PENLEY / PENLY Annual Reunion July 9, 2006 - Related Surnames
    2. Janice R Freeman
    3. Reminder: Second Sunday in July is Reunion for the Maine PENLEY'S and Related Families 2 PM, 9 July 2006 See Details Below We want to make contact with any living descendants that we can find. Additions and corrections are most appreciated. There are several lines from the Maine PENLEY family that either lived in WA at some time or moved thru WA in both the 1800's and 1900's Daughters and granddaughters of progenitor Joseph 1 PENLY 1755 Eng -1844 Maine are known to have married into the: ACKLEY / AKELEY, CROCKETT, DAKIN, DAVIS, DINGLEY, DYER, GARCELON, HACKETT, HAINES, HODGKIN, JORDAN, MARSHALL, MITCHELL, PACKARD, RANDALL, VICKERY, WAGG, WATERHOUSE and other families and lived in Androscoggin, Aroostook, Cumberland, Franklin, Kennebec, Oxford, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Sagadahoc, Somerset, and York counties in Maine. Descendants are known to have lived or be living in many states from Massachusetts to California and across Canada from Ontario to British Columbia. One great grandson established a line centered around Vicksburg, Mississippi after the Civil War. A great granddaughter moved to Kansas with her family when she was twelve years old. She and her husband (MANLEY) were missionaries in India and all but one of their children were born there. Today, many of her descendants live throughout CA, OR, and WA. I had a major computer crash last Oct (2005) and lost all of my e-mails and addresses. PLEASE, if you have ever contacted me before last Oct, send me another e-mail about your PENLEY connection / information so I will know who you are and how to contact you. If you have a PENLEY ancestor in or from Maine or New England, you are urged to contact us. If you can provide your direct line back to your earliest known PENLEY ancestor(s), it will be a great help in placing you in the correct branch. The Maine PENLEY family is primarily the descendants of the children of the progenitor, Joseph 1 PENLY, who was born in England in 1755, arrived in Freeport, Maine, in 1770, and died in 1844. Joseph was first married 1780 to the widow, Esther FOGG JOHNSON, and they had 10 children. They moved from the Freeport area to Danville abt 1792. Following Esther's death in 1796, Joseph second married 1797 Thankful MOODY and they had six children. However, there was an earlier Sam(p)son PENLEY who was living in Falmouth (now Portland), Maine in 1658. He was later associated with House Island, Cape Elizabeth, and Long Neck. He was a fisherman and jail keeper. When he died in 1688, he was survived by his wife, Rachel; a son, Sampson; and 3 daus: Jane or Ann who married Dennis MURROUGH (MURROW ?) Dorcas who married Hugh WILCOTT Mary who married Henry BAILEY His son, Sampson PENLEY, was a mariner who is believed to have died without issue. How or if these two PENLEY families may have been related is not known, but the PENLEY family genealogists welcome the participation of Sam(p)son's descendants in hopes that future research will give us some resolution to these questions. The Maine PENLEY family has an annual reunion, at 2 PM every 2nd Sunday in July. The special service is held at PENLEY Corner Church, state route 136 (same as Riverside Dr on the Auburn side), 3 miles south of the Auburn - Lewiston, Maine bridge (just a few hundred feet south of the Auburn city limits sign). Route 136 cuts across from Freeport to Auburn. This year the meeting will be Sunday, 9 July 2006. Rev E Richard WRENTZEL, pastor of visitation at the Turner Village Church, Turner, Maine, will the guest speaker. He had served as pastor of many churches in Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut and Maine, but is now retired from active preaching. Family members who now live in AR, CT, MD, and ME will be participating in the service. Family genealogists will be available both before and after the service to receive information from descendants and discuss your line with you. If you have New England PENLEY's, the chances are very good that you are a descendant of Joseph 1 PENLY. If you are unable to be at the reunion on July 9th, PLEASE contact me. And if you know of other PENLEY descendants, please let me know who they are and how to contact them by phone or e-mail by sending an e-mail directly to me (to protect their privacy re phone numbers and addresses). Thank you for your help. Our success, in updating the genealogy of Joseph 1 PENLY's descendants, is dependent on the contributions made by all of our living cousins. Janice
