    3. Carol, I noticed KELSEY on your surname list. My 2nd gg father is Joseph KELSEY who was born 5 Feb 1824 in Canada. He came to Oregon in 1847, likely via Missouri. He married Phebe LIGGETT 15 June 1851 at Benton County, Oregon, and he died 14 May 1895 and he is buried in Linn County, Oregon about seven miles from where I live. Do you know of any KELSEYs that went to Canada? 3. Micki I do believe that the Wenatchee Area Genealogy Society (WAGS) Library does have the CD's that you are talking about! I don't know the cost if you wished to purchase a set, but they do become out of date each year! I do know that the ones that the WAGS have are usually used full time when the library is open - free of charge. If you can give me a last name, I can run it tomorrow when I am working in the library. If you have a first name, all the better, if you have a state, better yet! I will need the information by 10:00 a.m. Fred Pflugrath fpflug@nwi.net

    1. SEEKING KINDER-POLLARD-YOUNG: HELP NEEDED
    2. pollard
    3. Good Morning, HELP! I am having difficulty researching my G-G-G-Grandfather Asa "Ace" KINDER; he married Sally BLU/BLUE/BLUX. Sally BLU/BLUE/BLUX was said to have relatives in both CANADA and the UNITED STATES; who were of both FRENCH and GERMAN descent. Asa and Sally spoke ENGLISH, GERMAN and FRENCH. Asa KINDER was said to be a PENNSYLVANIA DUTCHMAN from GERMANY c.1800-1815(?); but this may be incorrect. It may be important to note that I have been told that he was somehow connected to WILLIAM PENN's PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH QUAKERS. Here, if my G-G-G-Grandfather KINDER was associated with the PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH QUAKERS, then he would probably have had family in America in the 17th Century hence he could not have been born in GERMANY. But, several of his G-G-Grandparents or G-Grandparents may have been. However, it is known that Asa and Sally KINDER had a daughter, FRANCES MAY KINDER. FRANCES had a sister; possibly her name was ATHIELA (?) born about c. 1835-45 (keep in mind this is a guesstimate!). FRANCES married SEBASTIAN POLLARD during or after the Civil War c.1863-1882 (?). SEBASTIAN POLLARD was said to have come to AMERICA from FRANCE by way of LOUISIANA, MISSOURI and MISSISSIPPI. SEBASTIAN spoke ENGLISH, FRENCH and GERMAN. SEBASTIAN was said to be born in SOUTHERN FRANCE sometime between c.1800-1815; from a surviving Daguerreotype he would have had to have been 60 to 80 years old at the time of his death in c. 1885. By the way, family lore tells that SEBASTIAN POLLARD was a cousin to Napoleon BONAPARTE (BUONA PARTE) but if there is a connection; I do not know what it is. By the way SEBASTIAN had brothers (CLARENCE, GEORGE, WILLIAM/WILBUR(?) and BENNETT/BERNARD) living in the WILLAMETTE VALLEY, OREGON and what is now WALLA WALLA, WASHINGTON - it is also known that one of these brothers married into a large MORMON family and may possibly have changed his last name. Also, I do know that GEORGE POLLARD had a son killed at the WHITMAN MISSION MASSACRE on November 29, 1847. In fact, his name was listed on a roster inside the WHITMAN MISSION MUSEUM; and there was a marker on the MISSION grounds noting where he died but both were removed from the WHITMAN MISSION HISTORICAL SITE around 1990. I have been requesting an explanation from the WHITMAN MISSION HISTORICAL MUSEUM but I have not received an explanation yet. It may be important to note that SEBASTIAN POLLARD and his brothers were said to have lived in REPUBLIC, WASHINGTON which is located very near the CANADIAN border and very near archaeological digs of the HUDSON'S BAY COMPANY; sometime during the 1800's. It may be important to note that GEORGE POLLARD was picked up by a MORMON family (POLLY'S/SAGER'S?) in UTAH on their way to the WHITMAN MISSION. Here, young GEORGE POLLARD was on his way to see his father in what is now WALLA WALLA, WASHINGTON. So, if you recognize any of these names, places or people please let me know. I may also be important to note that I had a G-G-G-Grandfather or G-G-Grandfather YOUNG. But, I do not have any other information on him except for the fact that it is known that he was living with my G-Grandfather WILLIAM RICHARD POLLARD and DELLA MAY CREECH-POLLARD at their newly built OREGON RANCH in 1921. At that time he was approximately 70-90 years old. So, he would have been born sometime around c.1831-1851 (roughly). Additionally, I am said to be related to Brigham YOUNG; but I do not know how...perhaps he is the connection(?). So, if you recognize any of these names, places or people please let me know. FRANCES and SEBASTIAN are believed to have met in LOUISIANA, MISSOURI or MISSISSIPPI(?). Hence, it's possible that I may have relatives living there today that recognize the information herein stated; if you do I would really appreciate it if you contact me. After marrying, FRANCES and SEBASTIAN had a son, WILLIAM RICHARD POLLARD born in c.1875; he was born in the WILLAMETTE VALLEY OREGON. It may be important to note that FRANCES and SEBASTIAN also had another child but this child died around 8-12 years of age. Six months after my G-Grandfather W.R.POLLARD was born, his father SEBASTIAN was killed. Later, FRANCES re-married a MR.BRUMMER from the WILLAMETTE VALLEY. Together they had several children, HENRY "HANK", NELLIE and PEARL BRUMMER. That's about all that I have on the KINDER'S and the POLLARD'S. As you can all see; there are a number of broken links which I have had to contend with. Furthermore, it may also be important to note that if the first name of my G-G-G-Grandfather is spelled AASA/AESA; then it becomes feminine (SWEDISH). But if it is spelled ASA it remains masculine. Similarly, if FRANCES is spelled with and "-ES"; then it becomes feminine. However, if FRANCES is spelled with an "IS"; then it becomes FRANCIS hence it is masculinized! The point being that their names may possibly be reversed(?). So, if anyone out there recognizes any of these names or places; please contact me. Best, Dick Pollard http://home1.gte.net/pollard/index.htm P.S.: Other names that I am researching: ANGLIN, ASBURY, BAILEY, BEALE, BEALES, BEELS, BONAPARTE, BROWN, BUONA PARTE, CREECH, CRITCH, CRUCH, DALE, DAVIS, DIAZ, KINDER, MAC DONALD, MC DONALD, MC COY, HATFIELD, PAINE, PEERLESS, PENN, POLLARD, POLLEY, POLLY, SCULLY, SMITH, WALLACE, WOOD(-S) and YOUNG.

    1. DAWSON, Thomas & Hannah, Bellingham, WA 1888-now
    2. BrenHebert
    3. I'm looking for information on Thomas and Hannah Isabel DAWSON and their descendants (and if possible something about their ancestors). I'm not 100% sure where they were from, but Thomas MAY be from Ohio, and Hannah MAY be from New York. There may have been a SCHUYLER in one of their ancestries, also (I think SCHUYLER may be Hannah's maiden name, but I don't know for sure). Thomas was mentioned in the biography about Henry R. WATSON in the reprint of "History of Whatcom County" on pg. 417, but in the reprint most of what was said about Thomas was obliterated by a reprint of a line above it. It reads: "In 1891, the year after his arrival here, Mr. WATSON was united in marriage to Miss Mary DAWSON, who had come here with her parents, Thomas and Hannah DAWSON, from Iowa in 1889, the Dawsons thus becoming numbered among the pioneers of Whatcom county. Thomas [Dawson, who had come here with her parents, Thomas and Hannah Dawson from Iowa]" Does anyone have the original "History of Whatcom County"? Does it also have this misprint, or does it tell more about Thomas DAWSON??? Hannah Isabel was born about 1842, she died on 6 August 1901 at the age of 59 and is buried in Bayview Cemetery in Bellingham. She was living with her son "Schuyler" (believed to be Thomas S. DAWSON who later moved to Okanogan, Washington) at 706 17th Street. There is no mention of Thomas DAWSON, Sr. in her obituary. I know of three children who were born to Thomas and Hannah. They are: Arminta Mary (or Mary Arminta) DAWSON. Born in Nov 1866 in W. Branch, Cedar Co., IA. She married Henry Robinson WATSON in 1891 in Bellingham, WA. He owned the Old Whatcom Transfer Co. She and Henry were living at 1210 C Street when she died on 21 Feb 1938 in Bellingham. They are buried in Bayview Cemetery, also. These are my gr-gr grandparents. They had four children who lived to adulthood: Arthur Schuyler WATSON, Mary Inez "Inez" WATSON BELL, Clara Isabel WATSON JOHNSON, and Henry Edmund "Ebby" WATSON. I believe Arthur is buried in Seattle and Ebby buried in Seattle or Mukilteo somewhere. Clara is buried in Aberdeen, WA and Inez is buried in Alaska or somewhere in Washington, but I'm not sure where. Viola Mae DAWSON was born in 1869 in Iowa or Nebraska (I can't find her obit at this time). She married William H. BURGESS in Bellingham and is buried with him at Greenacres Memorial Park Bellingham. The only children I know of are the ones who survived William: Lucile BURGESS ANDREEN, Thelma BURGESS DEETER and Clarence BURGESS, all of Bellingham. Viola and William were living at 1708 King Street in Bellingham when William died. Viola survived him. Thomas Schuyler DAWSON was born in Dec 1874 in Jones Co., Iowa. He married twice in Bellingham: the first time in 1895 to a Miss Ella PARKER. She died in 1898. He remarried in 1900 to Miss Etta DOWNS. She died in 1937. Thomas had three children who survived him: George B. DAWSON of San Francisco; Geraldine B. DAWSON CARLSON of Palo Alto, California; and Mrs. John E. WILKINSON or WILKISON with whom he was living when he died at 639 N. Miller Street in Wenatchee, WA. In Thomas' obituary it mentions that the DAWSON family went from Iowa to California in 1887 or 1888, before they moved to Whatcom County, Washington. If anyone knows more information about this family, I'd love to hear from them! Thank you! Brenda Hbert

    3. Hooray for Alta Vista Search Engine! I don't know if there may have been more than one lynching, but the Vinson Lynching in Ellensburg involved two men at an early morning hour and they weren't removed for 5 hours during which time a child on her way to school (not Sunday School as it was midweek) could have seen the sight. It was 1895--I was guessing my grandma's age from how her story is written, and it was for murder, not rustling as she recalls, but considering the hoopla surrounding this incident and no other I found mentioned (other than 1865), I am betting this is it.
