Donna, Go to WaGenWeb Project page [Washington state] and look down the right hand side of the page to 'where to write ... and then look for Snohomish county on that page, the address is there. The state did not collect these records until after 1907, so for these early ones. The may have transcribed by the Sno-Isle Society, if I can find them, I'll let you know. To Washington-L list writers, On the whole, I have had very few problems with anyone who subscribes to list. A few bounces from time to time, but you have been politically correct and polite. Keep up the good work, because I do not have time to slap your hands. Speaking of bounces, if I get more than 4-5 bounces for your email, I will unsubscribe you from the list and you will then need to re subscribe. If you are with aol, I am somewhat more tolerant. I have not done this often on this list, only if I am tired of deleting bounce messages. If I delete you for other reasons, I'll tell why. The main reason for this note is to remind all of you to please not post attachments of anykind or shape to rootsweb mailing lists such as this on. The powers that be are working on the situation, and there is much discussion in the background about whose problem it is. Maybe someday we will all be able to handle attachments, but until then the only work around I have figured out is to dump the info into the regular message or use a disk and snail mail. Also do not put html or gedcoms on the list either. Many people, like me, still use old email programs that cannot deal with this stuff either. I am glad to see so many questions on this list, hope some of you are getting answers. You an also post your query on the WaGenWeb Project query page. Thank you for behaving yourselves. It is a problem for some list owners. Good luck with your searching. Celia Tomlin Washington Mailing List Owner?

Who do I write to for a search of both types of records for a period from about 1890 to 1900? Thanks, Donna Email: dsuarez@cts.com Home page: http://www.users.cts.com/sd/d/dsuarez

I am going on vacation soon and need to sign-off this list. Does anyone know how? Aldean
I believe some of my family may have migrated from Eau Claire, Wisconsin after 1870 - maybe because the lumber had run out. There is a gap between when they left and the next documentation I have in 1939. Nathan DONALDSON and Luna HOGLE were from Vermont/Quebec in the 1810s, had several children including Nathan H, Archibald Usial, Mathew, Mary Ann, Edward, V James. They moved to Eau Claire WI in 1865. Some stayed there, but I can't locate many of them. By 1939 Elizabeth DONALDSON is living at 6320 8th Ave.NW in Seattle. She is Archibald Usial's wife. Is anyone else searching for DONALDSONs in Washington during these times? Or HOGLEs? Thanks, Gary Donaldson nangar@execpc.com
Hi, My webpage is up with the St. Helen's stories. It's actually a bit more than that. I am very interested in the science of natural forces and the human response to coping with such forces. The site is still under construction--I want to have a page explaining the science in laymen's terms and I want a page exploring the emotional, psychological and philosophical perspectives of such experiences. As well as survival tips. I also will be collecting good links on the subjects explored. And I have pictures to add. Anyway, from the index page you will see some links up--including the "Where were you..." links for both St. Helen's and San Francisco tales, and some links not yet connected. Bookmark me if you are interested and check it out periodically. http://www.geocities.com/~mjjodoin/nat/disas.htm Marge Jodoin, USA mjjodoin@webtv.net http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/5209/index.html
I am interested in learning more about the LAMBERT branch of my tree. William Louis Lambert b 2 Nov 1870 in WI m Eva Charroin, moved to WA in 1880s. Two ch, Wilma and Evan C., aka "Slim". The family lived in Bellingham, Whatcom Co., where they had an oyster farm. Slim was an adventurer who moved to AZ, CA, and finally HI; he died last year. Wilma studied mathematics and never married, I believe she died in the 1980s. Sound familiar to anyone? My grandmother's grandmother's maiden name was Lambert, and my grandmother knew the Bellingham family as her cousins but I have yet to sort out the relationship. Would be grateful for any information. Thank you -Lorna
I am seeking information on my grandmother's maternal uncle, Lincoln DAVIS. Uncle Linc was born in IA in 1865 and moved to WA as a young man in the 1880s. He was chief of police in Tacoma and served two terms as a state representative before moving to Seattle in 1907. There, he bought a hotel called the Dillard. He was elected again to the state legislature in 1915, but died in office. He left a widow, Cora POWER PAYNE DAVIS, and a 13-year-old daughter, Anna, from his first marriage to Anna ROSBOROUGH of IA. I would like very much to learn what became of the daughter, who would have been born in 1903 (her natural mother died when she was 6 days old). Can anyone see if there is an obit for Lincoln? He died 8 Mar 1917 in Seattle. Thank you -Lorna

Some of you may already know this but the Bureau Of Land Management has a web site at ww.glorecords.blm.gov/landlaws.htm You can research land ownership records. There are only certain states that you can search but I found original land reports of ancestors at this site. Just type in a name...Good luck ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Sorry Mark; I goofed....forgot to attach the link! Mark, Here is a link to a website that may help you locate this information. This site provides some info for searching for military records, and the info in broken down into wars. Suggest you go there and click on World War II...perhaps you will find the answer. I just came across this site yesterday, and thought it might help you. By the way, I am new to the Washington list, I live in Washougal, Clark County, WA. I am researching my husband's family from Spokane, WA, Surnames: CAMPBELL, DILLEY. Mark Lease recently asked: >I am trying to obtain the service number of my grandfather who died >in WWII. He was in the navy. I have tried the Veterans Admin but no >luck. Does anyone have an idea as to how I can get this number? >Thanks, >Mark I can't help - but can I suggest that next time you put enough detail in your question to increase the chance that you MIGHT get help. 1) "my grandfather" - what's his name? 2) "who died in WWII" - When, Where, How - if you know any of that. 3) "He was in the navy" - if you knew any ship(s) he was on that might be a BIG help - and if you do, mention them. Don't want to nitpick - there's not much activity on this list, and one reason may be there are hardly ever any questions that can be answered usefully, and rarely any information posted - if there are answers they must be being sent privately. Good lists are very useful - it would be nice to see this become one. Bert
Hello All lister friends. Just a note to let you know that May 18, is the anniversay of the eruption of Mt. St. Helens Volcano in Washington state. Yes, I was here when the mountain blew, so am kinda fond of it. The officials have decided to celebrate by opening all the 6 visitors Centers for FREE admission. So if you live nearby and would like to see the devastation wrecked by this huge explosion now is the time to visit. You may also tour the surrounding area that usually require a day fee. The Mt. originally blew on May 18, 1980. It caused loss of life, property, and much disheavel in peoples lives. Just a reminder that mother nature really is the supreme ruler here, and we are alot more vulnerable as humans than we could ever admidt. Also, to all, HAPPY NORWEGIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY.
I am trying to obtain the service number of my grandfather who died in WWII. He was in the navy. I have tried the Veterans Admin but no luck. Does anyone have an idea as to how I can get this number?
