Would like to know if anyone is researching the GROSS or JONES families who lived on the Peninsula in the Vaughn, Gig Harbor, Port Orchard area. This family stems from the marriage of Katherine GROSS to Lorenzo JONES. Kate (GROSS) JONES is buried at Vaughn Bay under the name of Kate WARWICK. She was born in Ohio in the mid-1880's and her parents were Daniel GROSS and Mary Ann LEININGER. I saw a posting today about burials at Bayview Cemetery or Lakeway Dr. in Bellingham and it brought the above to mind. Kate's mother, my great grandmother is buried at Bayview Cemetery under the name of "Mrs. Dan Gross". Hope someone out there will recognize this family. Many thanks, Dona VanVoorst
Hi to all, Someone was kind enough to give me a copy of some paper work, he had copied for me, on some relatives of mine that I found out, thanks to this person, are buried in the Bayview Cemetery. Along with my relatives names are a few others. Perhaps, someone out there will recognize a name they have been trying to find. Hope this helps someone out there in genealogy land. This person also took pictures of the grave stones. My husband and I went to the grave sites, and met the man who helped me find them. Thanks to him, I now know where my grandparents and a couple of Uncles and Aunts are buried. I just want to help someone like he helped me. This is a small contribution, but if someone recognizes a relation in these names.....than we will both be happy. Kathleen L. CASEY (died...10-23-68) Rose B. CARLSON (died...6-2-80) A.C. " (died...10-23-66) John Levis GRAGG (died...4-21-30) Gastric Ulcer Helen P. GRAGG ( died...4-9-24) Colon Cancer Helen GRAGG ( died...6-20-71) Cremated Georgie P. GRAGG (died...11-2-78) Cremated It does not say if the year is the 1900's or the 1800's. If this helps anyone, I also have specific directions on how to get to the cemetery, which is located in Bellingham. If you need addtional information on anyone who worked for the railroad, this place is a great source! I had a relative who was born in 1889, he spent most of his life working for the railroad. The information I received from these people included his dob, his parents, his complete employment history (positions, locations, time worked, salary), his first and second wives date of deaths, his 2nd wives parents, dob, dod, her parents, and her 1st two husbands!! What a gold mine. I can't remember the fee, but write to Railroad Retirement Board 844 North Rush St Chicago, IL 60611-2092 www.rrb.gov Good luck, Judy in Oregon City -- A job is nice, but it interferes with genealogy research.
I found a copy of Partners in Progress, the story of Washington Co-operative Farmers Assoc. It is the early story of the organization of farmers in the state of Washington, "completed in 1953". Hi! I am seeking information about my GGgrandmother named Amalia Larsen. She emigrated from Norway in about 1882 to South Dakota and then in 1889 to Washington where she resided in Tacoma and Seattle. My question: We have a document <although temporarily misplaced :-)> saying she was the first Seattle Policewoman. Does anyone have any ideas on how I might find out more information on her and her profession? Amalia was born August 18, 1879 in Norway. She was married to Sir Clement Berry and then Charles Gates. Any help or ideas on how to contact <non-emergency/public relations>the Seattle Police department or any advice greatly accepted. Mange Takk, Ginger GDingus@aol.com
