    3. Hi. IMO divorce papers offer little information unless the woman takes back her maiden name. If it involves child custody you might not get anything at all. You siad father's death cert. Did you check to see if his estate was probated? (I know...merchant marine probably means he had nothing). 1. [WASHINGTON-L] Divorce Record from King Co., 1920's?
    2. I'm trying to find out if divorce records are available in King County from the 1920's? A great-great-uncle of mine was divorced sometime during the 1920's and he was living in Seattle at the time. Also, what information would such a record have? I'm trying to find out what happened to a daughter of his and thought perhaps the divorce record might give me a clue. Any information would be most appreciated. Thanks. Duston Brooks

    1. [WASHINGTON-L] Verna (or Vernie) Brooks of Seattle 1920's?
    2. Looking for any information on Verna (or Vernie) Brooks, daughter of James Nathaniel "Nat" Brooks, a goldminer and Merchant Marine. Verna was born in Colorado around 1906. I don't know who her mother was. Her father married again to a Georgia Phifer from Nebraska, who was a widow with a son named Jake Phifer. The family moved to Seattle, Washington by 1920. At this time, James' occupation was goldminer. Jake's occupation was house painter. Georgia was a housewife. Later, I found out, James joined the Merchant Marines. He divorced Georgia sometime during the 1920's. In 1929, James died in Jefferson County, Washington after his ship came to port and was buried there in a hospital grave with no marker. I haven't a clue what happened to Georgia, Jake, and Verna. Did Verna go with Georgia after the divorce? Did Verna marry? She wasn't listed as an informant on her father's death certificate. I don't know what happened to her. One of my aunts, now dead, said that the last time she had heard (probably in the 1950's), Verna was living in California, maybe San Francisco. But that was all she said. If Verna married, then I have no idea what her married name was. Therefore, I can't track her in California. Seattle is the last place I know she was before her father's death and divorce. Has anyone heard of any of these people, specifically Verna? If so, I would appreciate any help. Thanks. Duston Brooks

    1. [WASHINGTON-L] SAUNDERS-family of Thomas Henry Saunders
    2. Darrell or Adrienne Sherrin
    3. Hello, I am trying to learn about my cousins, descendants of Aurelia "Nin" Manning and Thomas Henry Saunders born 1865 in England, probably London area. They emigrated to Washington state and lived in Blaine. I believe Thomas was in the lumber business. They had a daughter Norah and a son Thomas Henry Jr. who married Petria and they had two sons, Thomas and Peter. I met all these folks when I was a child, but have not heard of them for probably 50 years. I would really like to fill in the blanks. Aurelia Saunders was my great aunt. Thankyou Adrienne Adrienne Sherrin Kelowna, B.C., Canada

    3. I am interested in finding information about my great grandfather, John Skelley and his wife Mary Jane Newton Skelley. They had 11 children (Newton Skelley, Nettie Skelley Elliott, Ruth Skelley Kemp, Laura Skelley, Albert Skelley, Edna Skelley Elliott, Kate Skelley Taylor, Claude Skelley, Bernard Skelley, Cynthia Skelley Sinnett, and Irene Skelley Courtney). My grandmother was Ruth. John Skelley was born to Bernard and Ann Skelly (the second "e" is dropped) on July 18, 1844 in Boston or Cambridge, Massachusetts. He lived in Wisconsin where he bought land until about the mid to late 1890s and then moved to Washington state where he died in 1911. They lived mainly around the Olalla area. John had a brother who was named after their father, Bernard. Thanks in advance for any information. -- Jeff Kemp jkemp@alaska.net

    3. My ancestry Jacob K. Shaver/Shafer went to CA for the gold rush, lived there for a while and then went to Washington/Idaho territory. He was burried in 1876 in the Masonic Cemetery of Eureka Nevada. He was a delegate to U.S. Congress from the Idaho Territory in 1869. I would love to hear from relatives of Jacob's, he left a large family in VA, and I believe he must have had a family of his own. Any information or ideas would be greatly appreciated, and I would be glad to share the information that I have. Thanks Sue

Hello, I need any and all help that I can get. I am looking for any info. on my Richardson family. My father Alfred Hughes Richardson b.1941 Aberdeen Wa. to Charles Sherman Richardson b.1922 d.1946 in the China Sea as a Merchant Marine, and Pearl Agnes Collar b.1922 Westlock Alberta Canada d.1991 Aberdeen Wa. My father was an only child, there was talk of him being a twin, and the other boy died at birth. Write to the state for your father's birth certificate. If he was born in 1941, the birth certificate should indicate if there was a multiple birth. Aberdeen is in Grays Harbor, but for births and deaths after 1907, you should write to: Washington State Department of Health Center for Health Statistics P. O. Box 9709 Olympia, WA 98507-0709 Info line 360-263-4300 or see the web site for vital recs for Washington State, http://vitalrec.com/wa.html It's a $13.00 fee to request a birth certificate, but it will have loads of information for you. Good luck. Susan
