It's possible the Seattle Times archives would have photos. Their web site is http://www.seatimes.com. Also, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer has published since the 1800s, so you might try them as well. Their URL is http://www.seattle-pi.com/ Good luck! shirley :) JOSEPH POIRIER wrote: > > I am trying to locate anyone from the Madison Park area in Seattle who > can remember Fisher's Marina and the Silver Swan and dine and dance > boat back in the 1940's and 50's. I am trying to locate anyone from the Madison Park area in Seattle who can remember Fisher's Marina and the Silver Swan and dine and dance boat back in the 1940's and 50's. My grandmother Mildred was married to Roy Fisher. Went back a couple of years ago and see that the Marina has been torn down and an apt. building put there. Would Like pictures if possible of the silver swan and marina. Don't know why I don't have any as spent a few summers there working in the snack bar and almost drowning a couple of times. I am new to the list. To start off, I am interested in the Teeple family and related families--Branchflower, Bedford, and Robbins. TEEPLE: Ridley Teeple, my great-great-great grandfather came to Marysville, Snohomish County in 1891 or 1892. Most of the Teeple families in Washington and Oregon are descended from him. Ridley was buried in the Marysville Cemetery in 1904. BRANCHFLOWER: Charles Teeple married Eltruda Branchflower, who was born in Ontario. Eldtruda is related to the Branchflowers in southern British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon. There is another Branchflower line from New York that married into the Teeple family. I would like to tie the two Branchflower lines together. BEDFORD: Vestilla Tamsen Teeple married James Bedford Sr. before coming to Washington with Vestilla's father, Ridley. I would like to find their descendants and where the Bedfords are buried. ROBBINS: John M. Robbins was born 27 May 1857 and married Sylinda Florence Teeple. They are buried with several other Robbins in the Marysville Cemetery. I would like to find the relationship of the Robbins in the Marysville Cemetery to each other. William Boyer, born in Clark CO. WA 1881. Parents were Lydia A. and George C. Boyer. His last known residence was possibly Seattle, WA. If there are any Boyer descendants in this family I would like to make contact with you. Thanks, Cathy Page/Jennings

Hello all; YOUR HELP IS NEEDED -- TODAY!!!! Widest dissemination of this message to all Washington state maillists is requested. John Donnellan is the Director of the Washington State Cemetery Board. A discussion with him last night revealed that he has introduced legislation in the House, HB 1251, to combine two state boards (the Cemetery Board and the Funeral Home Board) into one group. This was done at the request of the Governor. Why is the Washington State Cemetery Association assisting in gathering support for this legislation? By supporting the Cemetery Board in this endeavor, we are working with them to accomplish our end goal -- that of saving old and abandoned cemeteries. Apparently both Boards (the Cemetery Board and the Funeral Board) do common work and by combining, they would be able to combine that common work to release more hours for other duties. Currently, both Boards have three employees and one public (unpaid) member. The new legislation would allow for the combined six employees and two public employees PLUS one new public (unpaid) member for a total of nine Board members. This would mean equal representation for all concerned. Why is your help needed? Because the highly paid lobbyists of the private cemeteries and private funeral homes within the state have, for the last six years convinced politicians in Olympia that this new legislation is NOT NEEDED. Why are they paying those lobbyists the big bucks to suppress the legislation? Because if the Boards combined, the funeral homes and cemetery owners would be competing for the same monies and they don't want to do that. What can you do? Here are some email addresses for you to send an email to supporting HB 1251 (see below signature for more information on bill) -- send one to each! If you can attend the hearing on Friday in Olympia, the hearing is before the House State Government Committee. There is also a link to the Ft vancouver library. Some of the other older cemeteries also have contact info... Park Hill Cemetery might be another try. Pat

Old City Cemetery does not have an on-site office. Burials still take place there, I believe, but I have no idea how you would contact them. No listing for them in the local phone directory. The Ft. Vancouver Regional Library has on its shelves publications done by the Clark Co. Genealogical Society listing the burials at this cemetery as well as others. If you need me to, I can look this up for you. BTW, I drive past this cemetery on the way to the Ft. Vancouver Regional Library--only a couple of miles from my home.
