Chelan County did not exist until the 1900 enumeration. The 1890 enumeration is permanently lost for over 99% of the entire nation, including all of Washington. In 1870 what is now Whitman was in Stevens County, and there would have been a small white population enumerated, but none in that year in what eventually became Chelan. So in the federal census you may have some luck checking 1870 Stevens County. You may also wish to check the Territorial and State census enumerations, available through many libraries. > >Good Luck, >Kevin Fraley >Swimref@cmc.net > > >At 10:47 AM 2/8/99 PST, you wrote: >>Does anyone have access to the Washington 1870 and 1890 census books and >>be willing to look up the following name for me. Nordland appears to be southeast of Port Townsend, WA on one of the little islands in the Puget Sound. Ft. Flagler State Park is in the northern tip of this little island. At the bottom of the island in tiny print is "US Naval Res." There appears to be a road (bridge) from the mainland. This is all on the west side of the Puget Sound. Hope this helps. Fort Flagler is at the northern tip of Marrowstone Island in NE Jefferson County. Nordland is about 3 miles south of Fort Flagler in the center of the island. Does anyone have access to the Washington 1870 and 1890 census books and be willing to look up the following name for me. I am looking for James A Davis, his wife was Ann, they would be in Chelan or Whitman county. I have the 1880 census for them, but don't have access to the indexes for the other two decades. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Twyla Angelos ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

A week or two ago on this list, there were some questions/comments about the canals in the Yakima/Sunnyside area. I'm told that there are two books written on the subject, "Courage and Water," by Roscoe Sheller, and "They Knew our Valley," author unknown. Hope this is helpful. I don't know what's the matter with me but I can't seem to remember how to access the WA Web Page. Thought I had it in my Favorites but nooooo. Why is nothing where it belongs. Now I'm suffering Elmers disease (daughter says) it's where your mind gets all sticky. Meaning I guess all the knowledge is stuck in there. Sandy P
Looking for someone to do a obit look up for Adam Christ who it was said committed suicide at age 30 and is buried in Tacoma. I need year and what cemetery in Tacoma he was buried at probably in early 1900's. Bertha Marie Maley would probably be buried in the same cemetery and she died in 1926. Thanks for any help. Sandy P
I am looking for information on the Orphium Theater I think in the Seattle area. A relative of mine part Japanese was the manager there in the 1930's or 40's and during the outbreak of the war was sent to a concentration camp in CA. Is there somewhere I can find out about the theater or Dickie Crist. Sandy P
Trying to locate the cemetery in Tacoma where my g grandmother Bertha Maley is buried. She died 2/21/1926 in Skykomish, WA and my records say she was buried in Tacoma. She died of Cancer. Can someone point me in the right direction. I sent for her death certificate twice now with no results. I know the above information is factual as it has been verified by my mom and her mom and a cousin. Sandy P
