Here is the next action to keep the State Library open! Contact State House Reps. in your district and those on the list below. The Washington Death Index is on Ancestry.com but it is a pay database, I do not have a subscription anymore. The following site has a searchable database....however, nothing like Oregon. New! - The State Library in cooperation with the State Archives is currently indexing census data collected in Washington. You may now search for individuals and view scanned images of original census documents. New data is being added weekly: http://www.secstate.wa.gov/history/search.aspx http://www.statelib.wa.gov/genealogy.aspx Unfortunately the library has been voted to close because of cost. t tower <[email protected]> wrote: >Does Washington have a searchable state data base like Oregon that can be searched on the internet? > > >--------------------------------- >Do you Yahoo!? >Yahoo! All amendments to save the state library failed in the Senate Ways & Means. The Budget then was passed by the Senate. The State Library will be closed in May if not SAVED by the State House. See Sec. of State web site. http://www.secstate.wa.gov/ Genealogist Work Backwards

Hello Janet, Thank you so much for all of your efforts, you are great to do so!! Additional information regarding Sven Larson: Name: Sven Larson (AKA: possibly Lasson, Lawson) Complete birth: 24 Jan 1879 in Vitaby, Skåne, Sweden Parents: Lasse Nilsson and Karna Mårtensdotter. Emigrated to US (Sven only): Between 1893-1900 Children: At least 2 children born between 1910-1920, Frances & George(Jorge). No information as to where they were born or names of possible other children. Resided: Somewhere in CA after 1st arriving in the US. At "some point" moved to WA based on a letter sent to Sweden dated 1954 with return address given as: 24310-52 West Edmonds, Washington. Wells Index Directory Southwest Snohomish County lists the following: 1953: Larson, S 24310 W 52 1957: Larson, Mrs S (Victoria) 24310 W 52 MLT (Mount Lake Terrace) 1962: Larson, Mrs. Victoria (ret) 24310 52 W MLT (owned home) Based on the letter dated 1954 giving the above address and the information on the Wells Index, I believe our "Sven Larson" has been pin pointed at that place about 1953-54. Since the 1957 Wells Index listed "Mrs S (Victoria) Larson, it makes me think that Sven died between 1954-1957 in WA. As for the Victoria Larson (believed to be wife of Sven) I do not know how long she continued to live at the 24310 52 West address. It could be that at some point she sold her home and moved to live with/or close to one of her children. Therefore, she could have died "anywhere". I very much appreciate your search of the 1930 census and the CA death index!! At first glance it looks like it could be our "Sven". However, the wife named Lillian does not match up with the "Victoria" listed in the Wells Index. The birth date of Sven Peter is not an exact match but that is not uncommon. Also, as far as I know Sven did not have a middle name but it's anyones guess what name changes took place once he arrived in the US. Again, I very much appreciate your help!!
