Actually, there was one earlier, also a 500 code. That one meant it was an out-of-country death reported to the state by the U.S. State Department. I don't know which country, though. I'd suggest finding where the person lived in Washington State, getting the obituary, confirming it's the correct person that way, and then getting the death certificate. Getting the DC directly from the LDS FHC is also a good way. Lucy: We went through this number designation on the lists earlier and there is no county coded "522." I have the pages with the county codes and there are no county codes starting with "5." It appears that, for some reason, the death certificates from the 1950s were given these kind of codes and they don't mean anything to us. What you can do is get the death certificate through your local LDS Family History Center. The LDS Church microfilmed the Wash. Death Certificates from 1907 - 1960 and the ones from the 1950s are located by the certificate number. By getting the DC you will then know where this person died and can pursue getting an obituary. Of course, you can always request the DC from the State, but getting it through LDS is a much more reasonable cost. She was born in Denmark, married Theodore Brown in Wisconsin. She was in the 1920 census in Seattle, District 183, King Co., Wa. When did she died and where buried? Any obits on her and Theodore Brown, IF HE LIVED AND DIED HERE, would be most appreciated. Thanks. Mary Lou
I have found the death index listing of a family member, but need a bit of help in figuring out the county name. THis is what it said (from Ancestry, com): Place of Death: 522 What county is 522? I would like to get an obit for her, but need further information. The date was in 1952. THanks, Lucy

Baker, if you have her birth date, sometimes you can find a woman's married name on the Social Security Death Index by putting in her first name (and initial, if you have it), and the birth date (of course, having month, day and year is best, but just year may give you a lead). To narrow it down, enter the state where it seems reasonable her social security card may have been issued--Washington, in Lois' case; and/or the state where rumor says she died. For example, there is a Lois E. Snyder on the Death Index, born on April 25, 1914, who died on April 28, 1989 in South Bend, Pacific County, WA. Pacific County is next to Lewis County.

This past Saturday I was in Burnett looking for the cemetery. The old-timers there could not direct me, in fact had not heard of it. No maps, even ones from 1915 located at my local library, show the location of the cemetery. I was hoping that there was someone, possibly associated with the tombstone project in Washington, that could give me a lead as to where to look. Again, thank you for your suggestion. NATJ
Using Topo map, it shows the town to be in Sec 16, but does not point out a cemetery in that section. It shows two cemeteries south of Burnett, but no names on them.
