I've "rescued" an old photograph of Lizzie KINNER which was taken at the Standen Studio in Westfield, PA. Lizzie is identified as the Maternal Grandmother of Robert F. RAWLS. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with Lizzie appearing to be in her 50's at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Lizzie and her family: Robert F. RAWLS Mother was Eva Lizzie KINNER who was b. 17 May 1892 in Gaines Township, Tioga Co., PA the daughter of William or Walter L. KINNER (b. 1872 in Bath, NY-1895) and Alice "Elli" May FRANCIS (b. 1872 - 1874 in Davis, PA-1963). The couple had three children including Francis Walter; Eva Lizzie; and Florence KINNER, all born between 1890 and 1895. After their father died their Mother remarried and three more children were born including, Gertrude; Thelma E.; and Earl J. "Bud" FOSTER all born between 1905 and 1912. Eva married Robert Seally RAWLS (1874-1974) and they had one son, Robert F. "Bob" RAWLS (1912-2000). Eva Lizzie died 8 Apr 1993 in Ferndale, WA. So based on this the photograph would be of Alice "Elli" May FRANCIS. Robert F. RAWLS was b. 27 Dec 1912 in Whatcom Co., WA and was married twice, once to Nelda WINGERSON (1917-1989) and also to Margaret F. PENDLETON (1912-2005) with whom he had a son, Robert Terry RAWLS (1938-2011). Robert F. RAWLS died 10 Jan 2000 in Bellingham, WA. Alice May "Allie" FRANCIS was the daughter of George FRANCIS (1840-1903) and Nancy C. LARRISON (1841-1920). Alice May was one of 7 children born to this couple including, Sarah Eloise; Fanny Juliet; Alice May "Allie"; Rose; Emma; William; and Maude FRANCIS all born between 1865 and 1880. I've "rescued" an old funeral cabinet card produced in remembrance of Frank ROBERTS who died 1 Apr 1891 at age 36 years and 6 months. There is no studio or location included on the funeral card. Based on the age indicated I believe that he would have been born in October 1854. The funeral card was recovered in Bellingham, WA in case that this a clue. I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that this family treasure can be returned to the care of family. Visual acuity. This, literally, is the sharpness of your vision. Visual acuity is measured by your ability to identify letters or numbers on a standardized eye chart from a specific viewing distance. Visual acuity is a static measurement, meaning you are sitting still during the testing and the letters or numbers you are viewing also are stationary. Visual acuity also is tested under high contrast conditions — typically, the letters or numbers on the eye chart are black, and the background of the chart is white. Although visual acuity testing is very useful to determine the relative clarity of your eyesight in standardized conditions, it isn't predictive of the quality of your vision in all situations. For example, it can't predict how well you would see: Objects that are similar in brightness to their background Colored objects Moving objects Three major physical and neurological factors determine visual acuity: How accurately the cornea and lens of the eye focus light onto the reti The sensitivity of the nerves in the retina and vision centers in the brain The ability of the brain to interpret information received from the eyes Only light that is focused on a very small and highly sensitive portion of the central retina (called the macula) influences visual acuity measurements obtained during an eye exam. Visual acuity typically is quantified with Snellen fractions (see "What is 20/20 Vision?" below).
