My ancestor, William Wright of Putnam Co., NY (b 1744 in Oyster Bay, Long Island), and a descendant of Peter Wright of Oyster Bay) was purportedly married to a Washburn. I have never seen the source of this information, but it may simply have been inferred from the fact that the last of his children was named Samuel Washburn Wright (b 1789). (I am descended from his first-born child, Susannah Wright, b 1767, later wife of one Isaac Lounsberry.) If William Wright's wife was in fact a Washburn, I would guess her father may have been named Samuel Washburn, or at least that she was a part of the Long Island branch of the family descended from William Washburn of Hempstead, Long Island.
