Hi Dixie and list, I am also an ancestor of Luther Washburn and Sarah Spinning, through their eldest son, Martin Washburn and his wife Martha Curtis. Luther Washburn, b. 25 Mar. 1757; d. Sept. 1849; m. Sarah Spinning on 1 Jul 1779 in Ashfield, MA. Sarah Spinning b. 4 Apr. 1761; d. 9 Mar. 1839. Both are buried in Hall Cemetery, Town of Lee, Oneida Co., NY. This Luther Washburn fought in the Revolutionary War and received a pension. I have the Brenton Washburne books entitled The Washburn Family in America published in 1997 in 2 volumes and he gives Jonathan Washburn and Rebecca Perkins as Luther's parents. But as you have no doubt recently read on the Washburn List, there seems to be some controversy about Luther's parentage and I have no other documentation to back Brenton's claim. Perhaps more data will come to forward and we will all have a better understanding of this branch of the family. I also have a Bible Record which follows that might be of interest to some of you: From the Lambia Family Bible, Sent from Mrs. Elizabeth Millard of Woodville, NY to Bev Ramsey to Diane Rice. Elizabeth Millard typed out the original Bible pages and Diane Rice keyed it into the computer from the typewritten pages. Dear Diane, I have no further use of this so have at it. Don't know if Elizabeth still has the Bible or if she even remembers having it. It has all been up dated in Brent's book. The DAR is supposed to be more helpful today. Maybe they can help you locate books on Rev. War Soldiers. Write to Genealogical Society in towns or states, and county courthouses. I can't tell you how many cemetaries I've searched - now many of them have come up with records. I've been attacked by bees, shot at, and one time fell thru a grave. Too old for that now. Good Luck. 1. Luther Washburn (b.) 3/25/1757 Ma - (d.) 9/13/1798 (m. 1779) Sarah Spinning (b.) 4/4/1761 Ma - (d.) 3/9/1839 2.
