I have been hunting information on Franklin W. WASHBURN for 3 years without success. I know nothing about him, not his parents, state of birth, death, or burial location. Franklin W. (Frank) WASHBURN is in Hot Springs, Arkansas 1860 census. He is listed as 21 years old born in Illlinois and a farmer. He is married to Polly 21 b. Alabama, with young son John Andrew WASHBURN. Family storys say, "he disappeared in the Civil War". I have not found any sign of him in the war. Each lead turns out to be someone else, and there aren't a lot of leads there either. I do know he married Mary (Polly) GRAY in February 1859 Hot Springs, Arkansas. He is listed as being 23 years old, Mary is 19 b. Alabama. They marry in the home of Nicholas FISHER and Sarah KIRKLAND FISHER b.1820 Alabama. Mary (Polly) appears to be Sarah's child by a previous marriage. John Andrew WASHBURN is born in December 1859. Mary (Polly) WASHBURN marrys William Gillam GRAVES ca 1862 in Alabama. They have their first child in August 1864 that I know about. Both Mary and William GRAVES are buried in Garland County, Arkansas. Buried beside them is a Clemmie WASHBURN. I have no idea if this is a sibling of Andrew's or a wife. John Andrew is in Garland County till late 1880's when he moves to Texas. There is no record of Guardianship papers, pension, will, nothing on Franklin W. WASHBURN that I can find. 1860 census and he disappears leaving mysterys behind. I could certain use some help with this. Thank you, vickye@usaonline.net
