    2. Rich I found the book copy of the Minnesota Historical Collections either at the National Genealogical Society Library in Arlington, VA or at the DAR Library in Washington, D.C. Both institutions have their catalogs on line so you can check to see who owns what. Most of my research is done in research institutions rather than on the internet. I use the internet for clues but there is great value in seeing the original document. Even what I noted as a source is not an original document, but a compilation from other sources in the case of Emma and her brother the "Collections" got this from "Austin Souvenir, by H. O. Basford, 52 paes, 1896. Austin is in Mower County, MN. I don't know if Mower county has an historical society, but they do have a Genealogical Society Mower County Genealogical Society P.O. Box 145 Austin, MN 55912 Write them a letter. Tell them you are researching the Washburn family and need some guidance as to what institutions might hold information on families that resided in the county particularly in Austin. They may be able to give some guidance as to where to start Hope that helps Susan Bingler Fairfax, VA

    3. Susan, Thanks very much again. I will be contacting the Mower County Genealogical Society right away. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge, and knowing that she was born in Austin, MN lets me focus on that area now. We are planning a visit to that area next year, and we will visit with these organizations.
