I don't kow if this is your Peter Washburn but Massachusetts Soldiers & Sailors in the war of the Revolution vol. 16 p. 671 has the following Entries Washburn, Peter. Private. Capt. Asa Danforth's co. of voluunteers, Col. Conver's regt. service, 22 days; company marched from Brookfield Sept 23, 1777, to join army under Gen. Gates at the Northward. Washburn, Peter. Private. Capt. Job Cook's (16th) co., Col. Hathaway's (2d Bristol Co.) regt; service 22 days entered service Aug 4 [1780] discharged Aug 8 [1780]; service, 5 days, on an alarm at Rhoe Island. Roll sworn to at Dartmouth. the SAR & DAR only have listings for those Washburn's for which people have joined their societies under. Not being listed with them does not mean your Washburn did not service, just that no one has become a member on lineage from their line. The DAR Patriot Index does list Peter Washburn born 16 Jun 1728 MA died after 1790 MA married Abigail Pope he was a PVT from MA. No other Peter Washburn is listed. I suspect the Mass. Soldier's and Sailors entry for 1780 Dartmouth, MA is for the Peter Washburn that married Abigail Pope. By any chance did your Peter Washburn live in Brookfield, MA in 1777? If so the other Mass. Soldier's & Sailor's entry may be for him. Susan Bingler Fairfax, VA
