Hi, Here are the other two marriages for John Washburn b. ca. 1672 , d. Kingston 17 or 27 June 1750 in his 79th year. ; He m. 2nd ca. 1717 Wybra/Wiborah Bumpus , b. Plymouth 15 May 1672 , d. Kingston 6 Feb. 1743/4 in her 72nd year , dau. of Joseph and Wiborah (Glass) Bumpus. He m. 3rd Plympton 13 June or 13 Dec. 1744 Mehitable (Barrow) Wright , dau. of Robert and Ruth (Bonum) Barrow of Plympton and the widow of Adam Wright . There was no issue of the 2nd or 3rd wife. In regards to ; <<<WASHBURN FAMILY FOUNDATIONS by Mabel Thacher Rosemary Washburn says John probably d. 1721 when guardians were appointed for several minor children. We know, of course, that she was mistaken. DEATH RECORDS FROM THE ANCIENT BURIAL GROUND AT KINGSTON, MA says John d. 17 Jun 1750, as you do. However, I wonder if she was right about the guardians. When his father was about 60, he couldn't care for or support himself and had to have a guardian. Did something similar happen to John?>>> Mayflower families says ; Because Lydia (Billington) Washburn's children inherited her part of the estate of her brother , Seth Billington , who died in 1718 , there were guardianships 22 Sept. 1721 for the children of John Washburn . Elisha , minor over 14 years , chose Francis Adams , clothier of Plymouth , guardian . I would love to include <<< I also have marriages for ch/o Deacon John & Lydia (Billington) if you can use them.>>> these in my files. Captain Ichabod Washburn, who was a sea captain and lost his life while off the coast at Portland. Maine, helping to care for his brother seamen who were sick with yellow fever. He died at twenty-eight years of age, leaving three children: Ichabod (VIII) and Charles (twins), who subsequently came to Worcester, MA and a daughter Pamelia. Could this be the family that you were speaking of? Thanks for the information. I had seen that book at my library and now I know I want to read it. Jean

Chuck: I don't believe there is a headstone for Ezra Washburn Sr.in Stafford, CT. The Willington, CT town historian sent me a copy of a typed Washburn genealogy from a descendent of Ezra's son, William. Mrs. Roy Anderson sent the genealogy and in her sources, she states that a family story says that Ezra is buried in the same grave as Ezra Jr. who also died in 1793. I will let you lnow if I find out anything different. Keith Wilson

Keith, Good to hear from you! Most of what I know about the Ezra Washburn family is posted on my web site. If you see anything there that conflicts with what you've found, please don't hesitate to let me know. Most of my information came from deeds and the Oakham histories. I also worked with historians in Oakham and Connecticut, but they were not able to turn up too much more. Ezra supposedly is buried in Stafford, and if you ever visit the cemetery, find his grave and take a picture of the stone, I'd appreciate an E-mailed copy. Again, thanks for writing. Jean, Sorry, I can't place either Ephraim or Philip there. By the way I had ancestors in Washington County but their surname was Amidon, including a Moses Amidon who fought in the Revolution. He migrated from Connecticut also. Do you know why folks from Connecticut ended up in Washington County after the war? Was it bounty land? Hi there, Luther Washburn, I believe to be one of my ancestors. He fought in the Rev. War from MA. Luther Washburn, b.1757, m. Sarah Spinning in 1779, d. 1848. Sarah, b.1761 & d.1839. They lived for awhile in Vermount before going to Lee Twp., Oneida Co., NY after the Rev. War. Are you including him in your spread sheet? Although, not from CT, we have seen recent discussions on the list as to who might be this Luther's parents. I am still looking for the parents of Samuel Washburn, b.c. 1811 in Oneida Co. NY, m. Susannah Sager in Northumberland Co., Ontario, d.c. 1866-71 in Ontario. I think, but still haven't proven that Samuel was a son of Martin Washburn, b. 1782, m. Martha Curtis in 1802, d. 1868. Martha, b. 1786 & d. 1844. Martin was definately and son of Luther and Sarah (Spinning) Washburn. Always looking for more information on this line. Diane in Michigan

Hi, My line is through Ruth Washburn, daughter of Ezra Washburn Sr. and Susanna Leach. After the Revolutionary War, Ezra Sr. and his family moved to Stafford, CT. This included Ruth, her husband Calvin Leach and her brother, William Washburn among others. According to the information, I have, William was probably born in Oakham or Middleboro, MA on 8 Jun 1760 and died in Stafford, CT 11 Nov 1846. He married Lurana Darling and had several children, including a William. William Washburn Sr. served in the Revolutionary war from Oakham, MA but applied for a pension in 1843 as a Stafford resident. If this is the William are looking for, I have more detailed info. Keith Wilson Storrs, CT
A hint is like magic...it gets the ball rolling...even if there are "assumptions" along the road. Thank you all for your help. I believe that Randolph VT is a good place to look for my data. Unless Asa Washburn, son of Seth & Rebecca, died young or died in VT, there's a chance he may have migrated to Illinois or Indiana. Thanks again Bob Pruitt s. of Indianapolis, IN P.S. If anyone has pertinent or nor-so-pertinent information about ASA or his "family" please "open-up" and let it flow!
