I am hoping someone can help me solve a conundrum I have in tracing back on one line of our tree. It starts with Augusta Haynes BAKER, born 1857 Kings Sutton, Northamptonshire. 1861 & 1871 census data shows her with her parents at the Plough Inn, Adderbury, Oxfordshire. Parents Robert BAKER and Anne KILBY were married in 1856. Robert (the innkeeper) is shown as being born in Farnborough, Warwickshire age 40 & 50 respectively. Tracing him back through the census records I found: 1851 Canley Hill, Stoneleigh Robert age 30, a Schoolmaster with wife Hannah. Robert married Hannah Mulliss 26.12.1848 at Westwood, Warwickshire (registered at Warwick Qtr 4 1848). Hannah died in 1853. 1841 Mary Lodge, Stoneleigh. Robert age 20, assistant Schoolmaster, with William BAKER age 45 and Elizabeth Baker age 40. Also shown are Benjamin age 12; Harriet age 8; John age 6. In 1851 William and Elizabeth are shown as married with John age 16 as their son, William born Wormleighton, Warwickshire and Elizabeth born Claydon, Oxfordshire. In 1861 these three are at East Lodge, Stoneleigh; also Emma BARNWELL 36 & Lucy BARNWELL age 1, shown as Daughter and Granddaughter. John and Emma are shown as being born at Stoneleigh This all seems fine but when I search for christenings on Family Search it gets complicated: Robert's christening record shows him christened on 29.04.1820 at Farnborough, parents William and Elizabeth but Benjamin, Harriet, John and Emma's christening's at Stoneleigh all show parents William and Sarah. A search for children of William and Elizabeth Baker in Warwickshire found 9 children christened at Wormleighton and there is a marriage of a William BAKER to an Elizabeth MOLD on 28.10.1819 also at Wormleighton but I suspect this may be a different family? The problem is compounded because there are quite a few Bakers in Warwickshire. I would be grateful if anyone can help me resolve this so that i can confirm Roberts parents & brothers and sisters and trace further back. Trevor
