Hi Margaret & Listers. My brother has returned home for a week, before going back to his holiday home in Turkey. He has found the time to scan his birth certificate and send to me. The format was a special one through his HP printer, and me being being still fairly inept computerwise, I found it awkward to manage. Still persistance triumphed in the end and I printed it off, on its arrival last night. This morning I used my glue stick and guillotine to join and trim the two halves, and now have a beaut little ΒΌ sized copy of the original, which is clearly readable. Now I have one for my files! My father was the informant of the birth 12 days after my brother was born at Gulson Municipal Hospital. UD. (UD=Urban District ------of Coventry). Perhaps there were other factors in the mystery of the identity in the registration of the birth in your case. Maybe a parent was unwell, or absent from home, and a relative volunteered to do it. I don't know the" ins and outs" of it---but could anyone do so? Or had it to be some "significant other",(in the jargon of the day---neat isn't it?!!!). I had hoped to be of some help. Sad to say---I wasn't. But I should like someone with expertise to post something about the grounds and eligibility required to register births and deaths. Regards, Muriel, NZ.
