Hello Love, Very many hospitals started life as work houses Hackney Workhouse did become Hackney Hospital, Its now closed and the knew Hommerton Hospital; has been built on my Granddad Maddox street, thats maddox as in Birmingham, Nuneaton, Lichfield ,also and Oxfordand Surrey they go back to the year 1680 though I have yet to prove there Birmingham Links.
