No, not to a *record* office. They only hold the parish registers which would have the baptisms and burials. They may also have access via a computer terminal to the GRO indices but they do *not* have any birth or death certificates. If you wanted to pay cash, you would need to go to the *register* office for the area of interest in order to get a copy of a birth or death entry. However, a *record* office also has the marriage registers and you could obtain a copy of a marriage entry for the cost of a photocopy (about 40pence) or for free if they allow you to take a photograph without charge if you were to personally visit. If you chose to use the record office research service, the charge would be in the region of £24 per hour (or possibly part thereof). -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, SOM
