This idea has been put forward by David Franks Surnames research in a certain village - parish. (NOT a roll call ) I know that many people start researching a surname in a certain area and it gradually becomes a One Place Study. They may accumulate a large collection of records for that village/parish and have a wide knowledge of what, where, who etc. This information could be very useful for others - just knowing what is available to research and where to look for it could save much time and effort. As an example I have many pages photocopied from various parish registers which could provide clues for other people if I knew who was interested in the same church registers that I am. I have several PRs films to hand but have no idea who would be interested in them. Often people may be unaware that others are researching in the same area simply because they are not related to a particular surname, although it is possible that your ancestors lived next door to each other and some may have married into the family! I am always intrigued by the numbers of twins found in a certain parish and often wonder if the families were related! It would NOT be useful for us to include large towns -such as Birmingham Coventry etc -because the large "fluid" populations make this unmanageable. I will randomly select a certain village each week for us to concentrate on so if anyone is desperate to see their area listed or make suggestions or useful comments please email me OFF List. FORMAT - please keep within this guide so it does NOT become a Roll Call, Subject of email should be Village people - (place name) List of surnames (in UPPER case) and forenames you are interested in or researching . Approximate dates of residence in the village. Information that might be of use to others (keep it brief please) example of useful information Churchyard is now a car park- but I have photographs of the Headstones. contact Name and email Wendy Boland Warwick List Admin.
