I have the Birth Certificate of an uncle; He is named as John ONIONS born 4 Dec 1913 The mother is named as Harriett Ellen BROOKES formerly JACKSON, Housekeeper of Cook Street Coventry, but the name of the father is omitted . Is anyone on this list able to help me unravel this mystery? Any suggestions Please?
Hello I had a look on the BMD index - are you talking about this entry? John Brookes Mother's maiden name - ONIONS Registered Jan-Mar 1914 Birmingham ref 6d 301 If so then with the information you have given from the certificate it would appear that his mother was born Harriet Ellen Onions then she married for the first time to a Mr Jackson. Then either widowed or divorce and married for a second time to a Mr Brookes. This doesn't help find the name of his father but you could try find Harriet's two marriages. Have you found her on the 1901 census? Hope this helps Regards Carole goyen <goyen@ihug.co.nz> wrote: Thu, 2 Aug 2007 17:00:52 +1200 I have the Birth Certificate of an uncle; He is named as John ONIONS born 4 Dec 1913 The mother is named as Harriett Ellen BROOKES formerly JACKSON, Housekeeper of Cook Street Coventry, but the name of the father is omitted .
