Hi List, I am wanting to get the birth Certificate for Isaiah CLIVE, but Having looked up the ancestry.co.UK bmd index I can not find him, The records I have on him are the 1881,1891,1901 Uk Census, his marriage Cert and death cert and a possible 1871 census with name being a Josiah , The census all put him being born in Staff West Bromwich , England with a Date range of 1864 to1866, I have searched Bmd index from 1862 to1868 but I Cannot find him, Census puts his mother as Mary Clive, no father in census's, marriage cert (1888) puts father as Isaiah Clive with words in brackets I think say Dec (deceased)? What reasons could there be for him not being on Bmd Index, A change of name Would be one? Also Does GRO do searches, what would the cost be roughly for a search if You do not know reference numbers, I have always ordered with the reference Numbers What other options could there be to find his birth? Hi Stefan If you go to West Midlands BMD on http://www.bmsgh.org/wmbmd/births.html you can search and find all the CLIVEs born in West Bromwich registration district for that time period It contains Isaiah/Josiah brothers and sisters as in the 1871 census.
