    3. Hello I also have relative that show's she is entered as the Toll Gate Collector on the 1841 census, her father is living with her at the Hillmorton Toll Gate. I would be interrested if there was any more information about which Toll Gate that was in Hillmorton. Jeff

If you contact the Record Office, you may well find they have a map or other information relating to it. I was looking for the whereabouts of the toll gate in Walton (SOM) and the Record Office had a detailed (and enormous) map dated 1820 showing the location. They also had another map about 20 years later together with a survey which also showed it and gave details of the toll road itself. Another possible source is the UK Parliament site which will have the Acts of Parliament for the setting up of the toll roads together with any Acts amending the original. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk
