Oh Whoops Jill has just pointed out that the URL I gave for Long Marston (The Last Witch Hunt) was for the village of the same name in Hertfordshire - sorry gang- It looked so interesting I forgot to check . Geoff Allen's book "Warwickshire Towns and Villages" describes how Charles 11 escaping after the battle of Worcester in 1651 stayed at the Manor House (now Kings Lodge) disguised as a servant.
