    3. Where's the mystery or the brick wall? Why can't you search the 1901 census and the death index for yourself, as both are on line? For one you will need to pay a small charge to download the full entry if you find them in the index www.1901censusonline.com and the other is free - partial (but very considerable) births, marriages & deaths on www.freebmd.org.uk and complete indexes freely accessible on www.ancestry.co.uk And you only have 7 years at the most to search if Thomas Chandler married in 1884 and his wife was a widow by 1891. A brick wall is when you have searched absolutely everywhere and still not found any of the people you are looking for and of course, if Mr Chandler hadn't died between 1884 and 1891 it would mean that his wife was only pretending to be a widow and he had left her. You would then have to search further to find him. MAR in France.
