    1. [WAR] warwickshire Deeds At Harvard.

    3. G"day Following on from the loss of material from the Archives- You may be surprised at what is available overseas relating to Warwickshire. for example http://www.law.harvard.edu/library/ Harvard Law School has quite a collection of Deeds and Grants -most are proably too early to help the majority of researchers but some are dated into the 17th century. Try a search on Coventry John-- ! examples of Grants c. 1260 Grant Pinley, Warwickshire Grant by Margaret Beleteste, widow of the late John Beleteste of Pynneley, to Richard her son of all her land in the vill of Pynneley or elsewhere, according to the boundary-markers placed there; he paying the rent due and accustomed to the lords of that fee, and to the grantor a rose at midsummer. In this little charter the customary rent of a rose at midsummer, usually stipulated in charters where subinfeudation to a near-relative is involved, has a rather sentimental odor about it. Seal of the grantor, bearing a cross of palm branches with the legend: S' MA'G'TE.FARHEN and 4. c. 1200 Grant Brinklow, Warwickshire Grant by Richard son of Ernisius to William Bacun and his heirs of that land which Herbert son of Jordan held and which Roger son of Herbert held, at a yearly rent of 12d. For this grant William has given one mark. A long witness list is headed by William de Brinkel' and includes the names of Gerard Vintner, John Mercer, William Blundo the smith, Haldane Careter, Gilbert and Hugh the butchers, and Richard de Aula (see No. 6). Compare the seal with that of Robert de Spereburne in No. 3: the device here is nearly identical. Legend: + SIGIL' RICARDI FILII ERNISII Good hunting Wendy Boland Warwick List Admin

    1. [WAR] HAMMERSLEY FAMILY IN BEDWORTH
    2. RICHARD KENDELL
    3. Is anyone interested in the Hammersley family in Bedworth? Specifically I am interested in the John Hammersley who married Priscilla in the early 1700s. Was he the son of John and Susanna christened in 1684, or the son of Jeremiah and Mary christened in 1683? Richard
