Your "brickwall" should be very easily pushed over by trawling the GRO indices that are available on any of the sites regularly mentioned and the census is also available for searching which you can do for free. Don't expect the name to be exactly as you've given it. It may have been mistranscribed when it was indexed or by the enumerator when he made up his books or given incorrectly by a friend or neighbour if the family didn't or was unable to complete the schedule. If you can't find Thomas CHANDLER's death between 1884 and 1891 then search for his death well after 1891 right up to the point where he would be 100 and also look for his remarriage, possibly/probably not in his normal home parish. Have a look for Mary CHANDLER's remarriage. Remember she would have married under her former married name, not normally her maiden name. Also look for her death from 1891 onwards plus the marriages of her children from when each would have been 16. It was still legal for girls to marry at 12 and boys at 14 with permission of their parents or legal guardian or a responsible adult. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, SOM
