Many thanks Gus and Peter I think between you the problem has been solved. This has been an amazingly serendipitous bit of research. I was searching in Wolverhampton for Elizabeth LANGFORD, who married my G-Grandfather Solomon VEASEY. I found a possible entry in the GRO and sent for the birth certificate, only to find it was the WRONG parents, apparently totally unrelated to my Elizabeth. However, I was intrigued by the mother, Sarah who seemed to have had a chequered career. I now find that she and Solomon had the same 2G-Grandfather, so she is related to me after all, although not to the Elizabeth LANGFORD I was originally looking for.
