Hi, It took a while (2-5 years), but I found three separate lines of cousins from Selly Oak in Canada starting with similar information. I found the Ontario list very helpful, and expanded to more specific/regional lists as I learned more. You can Search Rootsweb for additional lists. There seems to be more recent information available re deaths/burials/MIs/obituaries. I was lead to one branch via the Commonwealth Graves site. http://www.cwgc.org/ I immediately recognized Alfred James MEERE, d 1916, age 19, WWI, Somme; "Son of Lucy Jane and the late Thomas James Meere, of Selly Oak, Birmingham". I was a few years slower to identify the only other MEERE, Leonard Raymond MEERE, d 1943, age 19, Canada (training mission); "Son of Thomas W. Meere and Edith Meere, of Sarnia" During the interval I had ordered several MEERE certificates, which included a Thomas/Edith marriage in Bham. The hint of recognition, with kind list assistance, led to finding additional family in Canada and confirming that Leonard Raymond was the nephew of Alfred James. Here are some other links that might help. Thomas Patrick [I think he used Patrick] had one surviving daughter from his first marriage, Pearl Louisa Land b 1909. He married a 2nd time in 1915 and I am hoping to find out if he had any children from this marrige. I have a reference to 'Cousin Norman in Canada' which I hope may he his. I have just found that my great, great uncle Thomas Patrick Land [b 1879] together with other siblings and in laws moved from Birmingham to Ontario in the early 1900s. We like the UK have privacy laws that prevent publication of personal information. The LDS on familysearch.org has been doing some death and marriage records for B.C. but I don't know what they have for Ontario. It is worth a shot though. Have you found out whether he had a family. You might be able to find any children in newer Henderson directories or some such records. Good luck on your search. Betty Alberta, Canada
Thanks Marsha, I'll try the Ontario list. There just seemed to be so many, I didn't know which to try first.
