    3. Many thanks for this Gus it has helped me on my way. Cheers from Valerie in sunny Sydney -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Gus Tysoe Sent: Sunday, 4 April 2010 6:12 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [WAR] Here is a different request to think about please ? - CULLODEN Hello Valerie, I agree with the expansions and translations so far posted - with the exception of the translation of "pat." This is a standard Catholic Baptism Register entry, and these usually include both a 'patrinus' and a 'patrina' - with appropriate names following. These, though are *not* 'father' or 'mother' (and with no religious connotation attached) but are the male and female "Baptismal Patrons" - effectively the equivalent of Church of England 'Godparents'. But as to *where* the baptism took place - and why it's seemingly classified as a burial - I cannot make any suggestions other than it was apparently NOT at Leamington, as that Catholic Congregation's Register doesn't start until 1822.
