Hi Cherrie, Further toPeter's posting, the IGI has the following extracted entries for Birmingham St Martin... Marriages - 1801-11 William JENKINS & Mary SPICER - 31 Dec 1804 William Walker JENKINS & Mary SCUDAMORE - 3 Jan 1809 Baptisms - 1801-21 - parents William & Mary JENKINS John William - 28 Jul 1800 William - 10 Jun 1808 William - 8 Feb 1811 [born 18 Oct 1809] The last one being son of William Walker JENKINS Searching the full period for Baptisms of JENKINSes at B'ham St Martin produced a further 7 children between 1800 and 1809 - all to William JENKINS & Ann. Overall the middle baptism above comes closest to the date you quoted for 'your' William - as well as being the only likely one with mother Mary SPICER - but his reported birthplace of Wellsborough [or Wellesbourne] is quite some way from Central Birmingham... Gus Cherrie, IGI has a marriage of William Jenkins and Mary Spicer 31 Dec 1804 at St Martin, Birmingham. IGI also has some baptisms, In all cases parents William Walker Jenkins & Mary Peter I am trying to trace Williams JENKINS and Mary SPICER. Family anecdote has it that they were husband and wife. I have no birth dates/places for either, or marriage date/place. I have the following information for a son, William JENKINS jnr. Born 1808 in Wellsborough, Warwickshire. Baptised 10 October 1808 at st Martin's Birmingham; convicted 10 March 1827 at Worcester, and sentenced to 7 years transportation to NSW; supposedly a 'boatman' in his youth. Any suggestions where to search for further information for William snr, and Mary Spicer, and whether there were other children? Also, is anyone aware of what newspapers were published in Worcester in 1827 - I would like to see if there was a report of William jnr's conviction? i do have a copy of the convictions register from Ancestry. thank you to all who offer help regards Cherrie from Oz List archives are at http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index/WARWICK ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
