    3. One of the 'trick' places...there is also Thurlaston, a township within the ancient parish of Dunchurch WAR. If a record does not clearly state the ecclesiastical parish OR the county, then Thurlaston has to be treated as being either WAR or LEI. 3. Further to Jacqui's and Matt's postings, Thurlaston, WAR, was merely a township [as Jacqui states] in Dunchurch Parish - and has apparently never been a chapelry nor an ecclesiastical parish - and in 1629 was in Lichfield & Coventry Diocese. Thurlaston, LEI, however was an 'Ancient Parish' both civilly and ecclesiastically - and, as Matt states, then in Leicester Archdeaconry - but that was then in Lincoln Diocese. Matters are somewhat complicated by the Archdeaconry being transferred to Peterborough Diocese in 1837 and then transferred to Leicester Diocese in 1926. Much would depend on whether or not the historical archives were transferred between them at any time[s] - which is another matter entirely :-( The underlying question that might decide the matter is the source of the information giving the place of 'death' as Thurlaston as it seems unlikely that Henry Butler was buried in Thurmaston, WAR...
