Hi again Something does not quite stack up somewhere along the line The Thomas SWIFT born 1816/17 Balsall appears in 1841 and 1851 with wife Mary Ann nee GIBBS Marriages Dec 1837 Gibbs Mary Ann Warwick 16 656 SWIFT Thomas Warwick 16 656 In 1851 there is no daughter Ellen and children are so spaced as to make it hard to see how an Ellen would fit in In 1861 the same family have an Ellen aged 9 born Berkswell , there is a registration to suit So either you have the wrong Thomas SWIFT or the birth details you have are wrong The only William PALMER with a wife Ellen (born 1850 +/- 2 years) I can see in 1871 is one born 1839 Oxford, his wife born 1848 Birmingham (there is one more couple but born and living in Cambridgeshire) Where does the birth information for Ellen come from? he birth information I have for Ellen is from a birth certificate of sorts (it is actually a copy of a document registration I obtained from some where in the UK about 25 years ago. I can't remember what agency supplied it to me. It is also the same place I obtained a copy of William and Ellen's marriage certificate. Please forgive me for not remembering where I received this info. An earlier response to my inquiry today informed me that Robert Palmer and Mary are in the 1861 UK census and my William is listed (correct age anyway). They are in Stoneleigh, Warwickshire. By 1871 William and Ellen may have immmigrated.
