Dear Peter Richardson, Many, many thanks for your helpful e-mail In my family the names THOMAS PHILLIPS and/or CHARLES PHILLIPS have appeared in several generations, from 1727 until now. A respected professional genealogist told me about their origins in Warwickshire and their life in Prince George County, Virginia, in the 1720s, when my ancestor Thomas Phillips and wife Isabella had a son John. I'd be grateful for more information, because the name CHARLES PHILLIPS is so often in my family. I'm a music critic, and my father's PHILLIPS family lived in Kentucky. All good wishes, Mary Jane Phillips, 160 West 71st Street, New York, NY 10023. Professional name Mary Jane Phillips-Matz. Hello Mary, Thank-you for the reply. Do you know the approx year of birth of Thomas and Isabella please? Did they marry in England or Virginia? Was their son John born in England or Virginia, and if in England do you have an approx date? Many of the Warwickshire records are now on line so I can have a look if you have some dates.
