Hello Anne, Just a thought. Have you tried searching for others first-name Milton? He could have been taken in by another family and assumed their surname. Of course, if he also changed his first name(s) that would be much more difficult! Hello List Administrator, Sorry, I know this should have gone to your other address, but cannot find it at the moment. I am being forced to move this weekend, so need to UNSUBSCRIBE from the list. Will get back to you when settled. Anne
Dear all, I have resolved this matter, there is no need for further discussion about it on-list. Thanks in advance for your co-operation. Regards Peter Richardson Warwick List Admin
Hello All, I am new to the list as Im trying to locate something on an ancestor of mine named Milton Stanley ROGERS. He was born in 1888 in Reading Berkshire. On the 1911 census he was living with his mother Kate ROGERS/CHILD at 3 Witton Lane, Aston, Warwickshire. He was 22 yrs and had an occupation of Furniture Designer. Milton had a sister Kate May ROGERS who was born in Reading in 1886. In 1911 she was living in Leeds with her Uncle & Aunts - Alfred ROGERS, Annie ROGERS & Lily ROGERS who were all born in Warwick Birmingham. As there is little information on anyone after the 1911 census besides FreeBMD & Probate records, I have had no luck at all in finding him. I have searched FreeBMD & Probate records up to as far as they go, and can not find a marriage or death in any county. He may have become a wanderer or he may have emigrated somewhere. I wonder if there is anyone on this list that may know of this family. With thanks, Regards Anne South Australia.

Hi I am the G G Grandson of Thomas EDWARDS Thomas EDWARDS b. circa 1796 (possibly in Kings Bromley) and married Millicent Brailsford of Matlock in Matlock 1811. They had 11 children who ended up in the Aldridge/Walsall region. My great grandfather William was a saddletree manufacturer and emigrated to Melbourne Australia in 1875 with family members including his nephew Jabez. William visited his English relatives around 1910 and I have a family group photo as a memento, but of course have no names!!! If anyone has knowledge of their descendants I am visiting the UK next month and would like to make contact if convenient. Any family history information would be most useful. Trish Further to Nivard's post - I have located Benjamin in both the 1851 and 1861 census, and both say birth in 1844 in Mountsorrel, Leicestershire. In 1851 - Living in Barrow on Soar, Leics, with parents John born 1804, also Mountsorrel and Susanna born 1811, Newtown Leics. In 1861 Benjamin is boarding with KNOTT Family at 14, Dover Street, St Margaret, Leicester. hth Helen Also Downunder Hi Trish Probably a typo but Benjamins age is surely older than a birth year of 1853? In 1871 a Benjamin BLOCKLEY aged 26 with wife Mary Ann aged 23 and son John Henry 9 months are living in Birmingham Which gives a birth year of approx 1845 What age does it state on the marriage cert ? and what was his fathers name and occupation? So far the only ones I can find are one born in Leicestershire and one in Lancashire so the marriage details are crucial Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 15/08/2012 23:28, Trish Thomson wrote: > Hi I am new to the list and would really appreciate any help re this > family. Many thanks for your message Nivard. I have just started looking for this branch of my family this week. Only a few details re Benjamin and Mary Ann. On the ships papers Benjamins age was very unclear and was given to me as 20 years. Thought it was a little too young, and now you have confirmed this. Benjamin stated that he was born in Birmingham Warwickshire, but I cannot find a record to confirm this. Have not confirmed the marriage cert yet, so not sure who his parents were. Hoped that someone might be connected to these families. Blockley is an unusual name on New Zealand. Hi again He gives his birthplace as Birmingham in the 1871 census as well From Ancestry 1871 England Census about Benjamin Blockley Name: Benjamin Blockley Age: 26 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1845 Relation: Head Spouse's Name: Mary Ann Blockley Gender: Male Where born: Birmingham, Warwickshire, England Civil parish: Birmingham Ecclesiastical parish: St Matthias and St Saviour Town: Birmingham County/Island: Warwickshire Country: England Registration district: Birmingham Sub-registration district: St George ED, institution, or vessel: 51 Household schedule number: 95 Piece: 3127 Folio: 41 Page Number: 19 Household Members: Name Age Benjamin Blockley 26 Mary Ann Blockley 23 born Netherton Staffordshire John Henry Blockley 9 Months born Birmingham Warks RG10; Piece: 3127; Folio: 41; Page: 19; GSU roll: 839583. So I return to the need for the marriage cert I am afraid NB our marriage certs will at best give the name and occupation of each father but not the mother (or very rarely so if one or other of the marrying couple were illegitimate) The other part that may help are the witnesses but no relationship is recorded so it may not be easy to tie them in But thats what we have to work with Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 16/08/2012 22:55, Trish Thomson wrote: > Many thanks for your message Nivard. Hi All, I have been requested to assist someone researching Ellen TIMMS born around 1820 in Welford on Avon. "Her father was John Timms, and we believe she was born @1820, in Welford On Avon. Ellen Timms went on to marry Thomas Warner, and then when he died she married Thomas Hunt (my Great Great Grandfather). The family cottage was called Tymms Cottage in Frog Lane Welford On Avon, and it suggests that maybe Timms could be spelt Tymms also." Is anyone researching this name, or has any details on the family ? Happy Hunting Pickard
You can browse the Welford parish register images via Ancestry.and there are no entries for Timms before Jun 1848 Mike Fisher in Droitwich my family tree http://mjfisher.tribalpages.com On 09/08/2012 11:42, Pickard - Hunimex wrote: > Hi All, > > > > I have been requested to assist someone researching Ellen TIMMS born around > 1820 in Welford on Avon. > > > > "Her father was John Timms, and we believe she was born @1820, in Welford On > Avon. I wonder if anyone can tell me which army regiments were in Warwick in 1717. Rigby Molyneux (probably an officer) left his mother's home in London to go to Warwick to join his regiment prior to shipping out to Ireland. That was in May 1717. I will be checking the Army Lists to check on his regiment to make sure I have the right one. Any information welcomed. Many thanks Ruth
