    3. Hi Paul According to Ancestry, sadly, none of the children of Thomas & Sarah survived. Thomas Ludington baptised 28 May 1682 was buried 2 June 1683. Elizabeth Ludington baptised 11 Jun 1684 was buried 22 Mar 1685. William Ludington baptised 16 Aug 1686 was buried 4 March 1693. John Ludington baptised 23 Jul 1694 was buried 16 Apr 1695. Mary Ludington was buried 26 Aug 1696 - no record of her baptism records. 3. Hello Paul, According to Ancestry's Warwickshire Parish Register Images, Henry LUDDINGTON married Alice WALLANOR or WALLANER on 23 January 1601/2 at Holy Trinity Coventry. Children are: Thomas LUDDINGTON son of Henry baptised 5 September 1602 Henry LUDDINGTON son of Henry baptised 20 May 1604 Edward LUDDINGTON son of Henry baptised 25 October 1607 With a bit of luck you might be able to access Ancestry free at your local Library in which case you can look through the actual parish register images for Coventry Holy Trinity from 1561 to 1812. Unfortunately, a lot of the Ancestry transcriptions are pretty useless in my experience, so it does mean trawling through the actual images page by page. Very few LUDDINGTON and variants come up when using the search facility so it would be quite an undertaking to browse through the actual images. To use an example of how bad some of the transcriptions are, the actual image of Isabel's baptism reads "Isabell daughter of Thomas & Anne LUDDINGTON baptised 7 June 1629" and the Ancestry transcription is Habell LUDDINGTON daughter of Chomab & Anne - at least they got the surname correct! William's baptism reads "William son of Tho. & Anne LUDDINGTON baptised 23 September 1627" - Ancestry has the surname as LIDDINGTON and the month as August. I will save your suggestion and work on a good detailed request. I have a Thomas Bartlett, file cutter, who came from Birmingham. There seem to be at least three possible fathers for him, and one name is a favorite because of finding him as an old man with Thomas' family in a Nottingham census. I felt that it could be useful to have a closer look at where the candidates might have lived while in Birmingham christening their children. Most of my English lines have hit brick walls at the point where several people in the area have the same name. I not only wanted to look at Birmingham, but at least half a dozen cities, including London before the fire in 1666. I have found a few maps with parish outlines, but none that are specific as to streets. I like to browse maps, but if that is not allowed I will have to get very specific, which will take a little time. Died 1980's/1990's All births, marriages and deaths were in Birmingham and nearby districts. The family lived most of the time in 15, Lime Grove, Venitia Road, off Garrison Lane, Small Heath, Birmingham until we left in 1951. I have two long-time 'mysteries'. (1) Does anyone know what happened to KATE FLANNIGAN? I've tried all the usual BMD, emmigration and census websites without success. (2) Family memory is that JOHN FLANNIGAN (b 1869) joined the Royal Warwickshire Regiment during WW1. However, I have a picture of him wearing the Royal Flying Corps cap badge. There are what appear to be three service numbers written on the back of the picture together with 'RAF'. Did he join the Army and then the RFC and then transferred to the RAF later in the war. I've tried all he usual military websites without success. Strangely, my Mom never mentioned KATE (b 1871) and we certainly never met her. Was she the 'black sheep' of the family? Any assistance with the two above 'mysteries' will be greatly appreciated Regards, Mike Walker

    3. Hi Marilyn, I assume you already have the 1841 census record for Ruth in Fladbury and I cannot find her post 1851 census. However, there is a death registration in the September qtr 1855 at Portsea Island reg district for a Ruth TRANFIELD?? A long way from Worcestershire/Warwickshire I know, but I cannot find another Ruth TRANFIELD/TRENFIELD in the 1851 census other than your Ruth so perhaps worth consideration. Janet Well at least I know this Ruth Trenfield born 1831 at Fladbury Worcestershire was around Warwickshire She was taking her employer to court in 1854 Complaint of Ruth Trenfield, Fladbury, Worcs., singlewoman, v. her mistress Mary Hancock, Little Dorsington, widow, farmer, for non-payment of wages. I haven't been able to find her after this

Ok - I can contact Cheshire Records and see what they have.? If it's nothing more than this, what do you do then??? Are there any other resources you Warwickers use to further your research back into the early 1700's?? All help is appreciated! ? Regards, Jim Andrews Hi How about checking for Wills. If you find a good one it will give you siblings who may have left a better paper trail backwards. I support the suggestion to ask the local FHS. It always amazes me how much folk 'have in their heads' about their area. Jenny

    3. Marilyn, The only likely emigration/immigration record I can find on Ancestry is one for a William FERGUSON born c1838 who departed from London on the ship "Scottish Knight" and arrived at Rockhampton on 9 April 1878. I'm not sure this is your William though, as I cannot find immigration records for Jane, Effie or son William Fairlie at the moment and as son James Andrew FERGUSSON was born in 1878 in Queensland, the timescale is a bit tight. Aha, now this could be a more likely candidate for the ship: Arrival date 4 April 1877 at Port Phillip Bay on the ship "Glendaruel" William FERGUSON aged 4 Effie FERGUSON aged 8 W F FERGUSON aged 36 M (Mrs?) FERGUSON aged 32 I know the ages are a bit out for William & Jane, but there aren't likely to be too many Effie's around are there! Definitely worth further investigation on your part. Janet
