    3. Hello Phil Welcome to the Warwick List- yes correct List for Coventry. The Hillborough was known as the "plague Ship" wasn't it- so it is perhaps lucky that anyone survived the journey ! Records show that of the 300 convicts on board 95 died from Typhoid. Is the child Mary Ann BRADSHAW the one who was baptised at St John Coventry on 30 Jan 1797 Parents Thomas & Elizabeth ? ( they may have been married - but nothing is recorded on the IGI that I can find) Have you found the record of Elizabeth's second marriage? This might show her maiden nam and help us track donw the family. I hope some-one can help further Good Luck Wendy Boland Warwick List Admin Hi, not sure if i am in the right list but I am sure someone will tell me if i'm not. I am looking for information on Elizabeth Bradshaw. All i have to go on is that she had a child to a "Thomas" Bradshaw in 1796. My records show that the child's name was Mary Anne Bradshaw and that she was born in Coventry, Warwick. Thomas was transported in 1799 (we think he died on the trip) and it would appear that Elizabeth went along with him because she is on the same ship, the Hillsborough. Elizabeth went on to make a life for herself and another husband, in Tasmania.

    3. Greetings from South Australia, I have just joined this list, thought I'd post my research interests. My prime research is on the DAFFORN, DAFFERN, DAFFON, DAFFARN, DAFFIN, DAFFRON surnames - my ancestors have used all these variations of the name. At a couple of times I have been the Guild of One Name Studies expert on these names, I have databases of every instance of this name that I can find, bit behind, but I'm working on catching up. I am interested in ANYONE researching these names. I am also researching KENDALL from Lapworth and Packwood areas. All the best. Alan Jones

    1. [WAR] Thank you for the replies to the BARTLETT CHANDLER Mystery
    2. Rhonda Bartlett
    3. Thank you for your reply I had searched the 1901 census and could not find any reference to the people I am researching; although they are in the 1891 census. I know of at least three George Henry BARTLETT born in the Eldersfield -Forthampton district in the 1870 -1872 time slot and I can not find any reference to any of them in the 1901 census. I have found the reference to the BARTLETT- CHANDLER marriage but can not find Thomas CHANDLER death. To ramaix of France who replyed personaly and online I would like to add I have search for over ten years to find more details on Mary Anne CHANDLER and George Henry BARTLETT ( her brother) I had joined and paid my subscription to Ancestry .co.uk Also a trip to England and the Gloucester and Worcester Record Office. I did not get to the Warwickshire Record Office. I am also corresponding with newly discovered cousins in England who also can not find further details about our direct line George Henry BARTLETT and his sister Mary Anne ( Mrs. CHANDLER) Putting my BRICK WALL on the Warwickshire rootsweb was my/our last hope. I have belonged to a number of county rootswebs and have always found them to be encouraging and helpful no matter how foolish the request may appear to other listers. Perhaps I should be looking at the Boar War records. the two men in question may have joined up it is a real MYSTERY to me. Thank you for your reply Rhonda Western Australia.

    3. It is always helpful to other listers if you indicate where you have already searched. You may wish to follow up Rose Chandler, age 13, working as a domestic servant in Stratford-on-Avon in 1901 and the Ernest age 14, errand boy, who is there with his Chandler grandparents. In 1891 there is a death of a baby called Mary Ann Chandler registered in Stratford, so it may be worth checking to see if the Mary Ann Chandler you are looking for died giving birth to that child, or soon thereafter. 3. Hi Anthony, Yes, I agree with you. You do have to be careful with estimates. However, I don't think I was clear with the estimate I wrote. It was only his estimated birth. Same with his wife. Owen did die in 1461 (executed). And, Catherine died as you say in 1437. See below. 1. OWEN1 TUDOR was born WFT Est. 1377-1409, and died 1461. He married KATHERINE VALOIS (CATHERINE) Abt. 1429, daughter of VI CHARLES and ISABELLA BAVARIA. She was born WFT Est. 1385-1409, and died 1437 in Bermondsey Abbey, Southwark, London. Sorry I wasn't clear in the first place. 3. Hello Fred, He gets about a bit doesn't he??? It might be worth mentioning that Eathorpe was a hamlet of Wappenbury that later became a Civil Parish. It would seem never to've been an Ecclesiastical Parish. Which makes me suggest that he is very likely the IGI's John FAWKNER who was baptised at Wappenbury on Guy Fawkes Day 1814, son of Thomas & Sarah.... 3. John seems to have been a bit of a "lost" soul! Sounds as if he may not have known where he was born? I would be inclined to believe the earliest record as it will usually be given by parents. However John would be c 30 years by 1851 and, therefore, in his own household. Can you find him on the 1841 Census? I had a quick look on FreeCEN but the only John FAULKNER who looks likely, unless you use a phonetic surname search, is born in Aston and not married to a Sarah. Did you know that there is another FAULKNER living next door in 1891 with someone from Aspatria? Could be interesting!! There is a likely looking John FAULKNER, chr in Wappenbury, close to Eathorpe and not far from Bishops Tachbrook, on I.G.I. who would be worth a look. When were John and Sarah married in 1837 as Marriages from Sep 1837 are on line at FreeBMD.
