Hello Terry Welcome to the List --again. What kind of information are you seeking? I have burials for Attleborough online on Pickards Pink Pages and there is an Online Parish Clerk for Atlleborough. The 1841 1861 & 1891 census records are online and so is the 1881 - www.hunimex.com/warwick it should be back online soon. You might want to add a few more dates and forenames to your question so SKS can send the relevant information. Just a word of thanks for all those who posted with advice and suggestions about my great great grandmother and why she might have ended up in the workhouse. I have ordered her death certificate today to see whether it offers any further clues. Elizabeth SEAWELL married Isaac MUDDIMAN 1811 in Rugby. They lived all their married lives in Long Buckby, Northants. Elizabeth gave her place of birth as Birmingham in every census. She was consistent with her age, which also matches her age at burial. She was born about 1788. Is she related to the SEAWELLS/SEWELLS of Rugby? She wasn't baptised in Rugby. Are the Rugby family related to any in Birmingham? Is anyone else researching this name in Warwickshire? Hello list I'm wondering if anyone can help, or has come across 'my' family of JESSONs. I have Sarah Smith JESSON marrying into my HINTON family in 1854, Edgbaston. She is 'of full age' as is her groom, Thomas Hinton. Her father is listed as John JESSON, shoemaker. I can trace her following her marriage through the census returns from 1861 - 1891 inc. I *think* I have her as a visitor in 1901 (so difficult to confirm), but I cannot find her before her marriage (1841 and 1851 census) or her family at all! She is consistently recorded as being born in Birmingham, Warwickshire. Her age is 29 in 1861, 40 in 1871, 50 in 1881 and 70 (!) in 1891. She dies in 1903, Birmingham. I keep thinking that with a fairly unusual name of JESSON (so I think), it should be easier then it's proving. Any help, finds or ideas would be very welcome :-) Heather
The original registers are at the National Archives, but there are many copies of the Warwickshire registers around, such as at the Birmingham Reference Library, and the County record office at Warwick has a copy of the index or 'digest' of births, marriages and deaths for the Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Rutland meetings. There are also copies at Friends House, London, where the Library probably contains the best collection of material relating to the Society of Friends in the world. Can anyone tell me if the records still exist for the Friends' Meeting House that stood in Brailes from the 1670s to 1854, and if so where they are held? I know of several possible ancestors who were members of the meeting there and hope to find further evidence of births, marriages and deaths - as well as other references! Steve

Hi listers , I'm an old guy , Cheshire born , Lancashire bred , now an Aussie in Darwin , Northern Territory of Australia . My fathers roots were in Aston Warwickshire . I will be asking for help from someone there later , but first I'd like to show my colours and share what can only be a treasure to whomever it relates to . Many years ago , I took my wife and daughter to visit friends in the aboriginal community of Oenpelli . Whilst we were walking through the bush , we stumbled across three graves , two with headstones and obviously important enough to warrant the import of quality headstones and one a simple wooden cross with an aboriginals name and a date . This was of interest to me and I took photos of the three gravesites . Twenty odd years later I started to research my family roots and joined the NT Geneological Society , I gave these gravesite photos to the society , and they thanked me by letter and also gave me the information they had on one of the headstones . As the NT was a frontier even when I took residence there in 1952 , they established their own ' pioneer list ' of notables . One of the headstones referred to a pioneer on the list , and they kindly forwarded me a copy . Idly glancing through it , I was amazed to see he was born in Aston Warwickshire where my grandfather was born . As I said , I will shortly be asking for help to find my roots but for now I will just put this information out on the list . Regards Frederick John Baylis ( grandson of Frederick Alexander Baylis and Amy Emily Shepherd ) The gentleman referred to is : STRETTON William George Age 72 years DOB 1847-02-01 born Aston Warwickshire Eng died 1919-11-29 Monument inscription In memory of ...Our dear father ...William George STRETTON ...Who died at Oenpelli ...Nov 29th 1919...aged 72 years ..A colonist of 50 years . Source , Free BMD Birth Dist Aston / Vol 16 / Page 231 . There is more sources , and extra information on the document . I will be happy to give the attachment off list at jabaarli@bigpond.com . I also have a photo of his headstone . Regards John
Hi Tony, The following snippet is from a very large article which you can access at the URL shown below. "New Buildings, later known as Brookhouse or Commercial Buildings, were erected further down the Birmingham road about 1813. These provided 42 dwellings, 36 back-to-back, together with the Dun Cow Inn, which the inspector of health so strongly condemned in 1849" From: 'The borough of Warwick: Introduction: the suburbs from c. 1600', A History of the County of Warwick: Volume 8: The City of Coventry and Borough of Warwick (1969), pp. 434-447. A message for all people with Hine ancestors or living relatives in: Stratford Upon Avon Halford Fenny Compton Other South and Mid Warwickshire areas Moreton-In-Marsh, Gloucester Batsford, Gloucester. I am compiling a detailed history of one of the three key Hine Branches in the Warwickshire areas. Descendents and their relations of a line from my Grandmother. Pre 1837 data gets a little difficult to confirm and any confirmation of post 1837 to present day data would help. I am willing to share any personal pictures, family notes, histories and so on that is not copyrighted from record offices or books. A few Hine relatives living today have agreed to do the same to compile our full history - many thanks for your continued support. If you have Hine acestors or living relatives that have (or possible have) links to this areas, and you are able to share information (to either rule lines in or out), then please do get in touch. The Hine web-site is still running and will be added to as information arrives. The contact board is still there. (The first member of my Hine branches is my G Grandfather, Ernest Hine of Shottery who is linked to all Hine residents in that areas and most of those resident in other villages around Stratford Upon Avon in the late 1800s).

Thank you so much for the mountain of information received from listers. I am almost at the stage of breeding silkworms and starting production <grin> You assistance is appreciated, Ann
Hello Ann I only saw two emails copied to the list regarding the Silk Industry. Did you receive other information off-list? If so, I would be grateful if you could forward the information to the list as I am sure there are other listers like me who have ancestors who were silk weavers etc & would find the information useful. Thanks in advance. Regards Carole ann menzies <barmenz@bigpond.net.au> wrote: Thu, 1 Nov 2007 10:52:20 +1000 Thank you so much for the mountain of information received from listers. Hi all For example:- My mother in law is a gt-grandmother and was born in 1924 He earliest gt-grandparent was born in 1791 That gives us a 130+ year range of gt-grandparents to find these buildings, but there is a clue they were by the old gas works , if we can find out when the gas works became old.
