    1. [WAR] MAHOCK in Wichford
    2. lynne scaife
    3. Dear All Is any one researching or any connections with the MAHOCK surname in Wichford or surrounding villages? I'm trying to find the father of: John EDDEN bastard son of Mary EDDEN c. 1750 in Whichford. (Father's name not shown). I have found: 31 05 1767 John MAHOCK (widow) married Mary EDEN (Spinster) in Whichford, and I'm just wondering whether I've hit on something interesting, or whether it's another red herring! I'm wondering if my hunch is right that John c. 1750, stands a good chance the father's name was John.  Perhaps John MAHOCK fathered the child whilst married to somebody else, but then married Mary when he was free to do so in 1767? 3. Hi All, Hope this is not too much off topic, but I got Win-7 on a ne notebook, and all seemed OK - I could read digests just fine, and the attachments opened perfectly. I'm using Windows Live mail. Suddenly, they won't open, and I am told there is no program known to open them, and to create an association for .eml files. I tried going to file associations, but there seems to be no way to add .eml to the list. Anyone got any ideas please As this may apply to us all sooner or later, I hope the list admin won't mind short replies on the list. Thanks Pickard Trepess from the wilds of Pocos de Caldos in Brazil, wondering if the ash will settle so I can get home !

    1. [WAR] HORN, Charles Gaydon
    2. Anne Chapman
    3. Hi Listers, Hoping one of you wonderful listers can help me with this enquiry. In the 1841 Census, it has been found that a CHARLES HORN was listed as a Butcher in Gaydon Village, Gaydon, aged 65. born Warwickshire. I have a 4 x Great Uncle Charles Horn, born 1771, baptised November 11 1771 at Bishops Itchington. By the 1841 Census, taken in June 1841, this Charles would have been 69. With rounding down, the above age would fit. There are an abundance of Butchers in the next generation down. The Charles Horn, born 1771 (as the 10th child of Richard & Elizabeth Horn), married November 14 1796 at Burton Dassett to a Mary Yerrow (or Verrow). What I am hoping is that there is someone out there who has some connection, please? Anne Chapman (nee Horne)

    3. Hi again You can marry by banns or licence, both would be recorded in the local registrar level which then passed it to the GRO (that includes registry office marriages) There are odd events missed out of the cycle so if you believe they married the best thing to do next is check with the local registrar If you ask nicely they don't usually charge to check for a marriage but obviously do for the certificate Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > Thanks all, I am beginning to wonder if they had a marriage with no banns > Ken

    3. Hi Mar, We've corresponded occasionally via the Warwick List and I know you're in France. I wonder could I pick your brains please? Do you know anything about the web-site below? Have you ever subscribed to it? http://www.genealogie.com/v2/membres-mon-compte/default.asp?theme=genealogie I've found a French ancestor of mine on it and am thinking about taking out a short subscription in order to download his records. I'm struggling a bit with my school girl French, but if I have it right, the cheapest sub is 19.99 Euros, which covers one month's unlimited access. That's a bit pricey just for the two or three documents I need, but I wouldn't feel so bad about it if someone else could get use out of my subscription and the only person I can think of is you :-)) If you have a spare minute would you mind looking at the site for me, to see if I have the cost right and if I have, could you get any use out of my month's subscription if I gave you my password details once I've downloaded my own needs? Hope you don't mind me asking.
