Hi Gus & Christopher Many of the Overseas indexes including the Consular Indexes are available for free on http://www.familyrelatives.com/ There are also Regimental Births & Marriages which may come in handy You need to register but not give CC details I have used them to good effect on many occasions If the wife is from India it would be worth checking Fibis also Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > >From the absence of any likely marriage - or of the 2 daughters' births - > >on > FreeBMD, coupled with the fact that he was 'retiring' from South Africa, > the > likely implication is that he married "abroad", and with a quite high > probability that all occurred in South Africa. > > His rank as Major makes it not unlikely that the marriage and births may > well be in the GRO's 'Miscellaneous Indices', probably the Army Marriages > and Army Births. Hi Would anyone have access to the Stivichall parish records. William Dumbleton married Sarah Douce in 1831 and I'm trying to find out if William is listed as 'from this parish'. Also if there were any witnesses other than the church. p.s. this parish is not listed pn pickard's pink pages. Hi Christopher Ethel died in Allahabad, India on 27 Sept 1923 so it was before the divorce case. Letters of Administration were given to her husband Colonel Oscar Striedinger on October 14th 1924 in London. Effects were £106. 2s. 6d. She was born in Nova Scotia, her first child was born in Natal so the marriage c 1902 was probably abroad. Hi I notice the Dumbleton surname for Alice. I have an Ann Dumbleton married to William Hammonds. She was born 1834 in Coventry. Her parents were Sarah and William Dumbleton. William died around 1840 and Sarah Dumbleton married William Hammonds father Thomas. In 1851 and before the Hammond name was spelled Homan in the records. William and Sarah Dumbleton also had a daughter Sarah. Have you traced your Dumbleton family. I'm wondering if Alice is related to William in some way. Hi Toni The only one I can find is 06 May 1832 Mary OSBORN aged 39 years buried at St Marys Warwick Record is from the National Burial Index CD (1st edition) I have found that the name Maria is often recorded as Mary in the prs. and vice versa. There are several OSBORN(E) infants buried at St Marys Warwick between 1832 and 1836 No likely records that may be William - in any parish on the NBI that I can find. BMD registration began in the Sep 1837 quarter so anything before that date means we rely on parish registers for the information. cheers Wendy Boland Coordinator for Warwickshire FreeREG <<<<< Does anyone have burials for St Mary Warwick, I am searching for William Osborn (e) and Maria his wife. Toni/Wendy, The NBI 3rd edition also has a second Mary buried at St Marys 31 Jan 1837 aged 75 years. I assume you are sure the deaths occurred before 1841 because the census shows one of the children as Head of the household. Hi All, I have a query that has stumped all that have been searching for the following for many years..... We have been searching for Michael Lalor & his son Walter. In 1841 we found Michael Lalor ,policeman Wappenbury, born Ireland 1820ish,then we found a Francis, inspector of police in Bedworth born 1810 Ireland, after searching for his record at Warwickshire Records office as we managed to find both their police details or part of their records & no one has come across this not even at the Records Office,i must admit they were very good & really helped us. If anyone can help further please do as i have tried nearly all police archives i can think of. I did manage to get into Northern Ireland police archives website but when they want £25 a search it's a bit hefty to pay,so i have enquired first & will then send them the £25 on Michael first. He is father to Walter's,Michael's 2nd son to two different mothers in less than 2 years apart. One said she was his wife Eliza Nee Simmons, however there is no marriage & she was living in the back to back houses St James's place Aston, when she gave birth to Walter Lalor in 1843,there is no nothing on Walter until he joins the Navy on board HMS Cornwallis 1859,then not on the 1861 census, however there is a Walter with Ann Lalor leaving of the USA in 1861,did he go visit his father before he married in 1863? Walter did not name is father as Michael, but John....Why....Is it because we found this...... On Michael & then also Francis???? Michael Lalor: date joined Police force:13/6/1840 as a P.C. Warrant no: 47 resigned 28/3/1842. By whom ordered: J.W.Burke Esq.,Carrakoel,Loughsea,Hyacinth Clarke Esq.,Carraroe Lodge & several other Clergy & gentry in Ireland. Francis Lalor: date joined Police force 19/3/1840 as a P.C. became Police inspector 4/1/1841 Warrant no; 35 Resigned 14/6/1841 By whom ordered: Inspector Rowan Esq.,R. Grimshaw Esq.,Justice if the Peace County Antrim & several other justices in Ireland. After seeing why they were forced to resign,it does seem likely Michael went to Essex to join the force,as there is a record of a Michael, however he can't be in 2 places at once ,or did he return to Warwickshire to collect his pay,as he finished in Warwickshire in April 1842,as he did signed for his last weeks wage,or someone else forged it ? Perhaps the news caught up with him in Essex as he resigned in August 1842,as for Francis, there is nothing more,i am waiting to hear back from Essex on him. We have searched everywhere for them....Does anyone know where i can now searc for this account? Thanks Kaz.
Hello Mike Thanks for that great suggestions. Will follow it up. Cheers Karen

Hi Peter, Thanks for helping. That's a good choice, but all censuses, birth, marriages about her have Kate, Kate Emily, Kate E, so not sure of a Catherine. Plus, found a couple of others to keep me confused: 1915 Dec Name: Kate E Gell Born: abt 1859 Age at Death: 56 District: Axbridge County: Somerset Volume: 5c Page: 600 1944 Mar Name: Kate E Gell Age at death (estimated): 85 Registration district: Wirral Inferred County: Cheshire Volume: 8a Page: 648 I'm not aware of any family branches in Cheshire. Our Selly Oak families migrated from Bitton, GLS (between Bristol/Bath), so Somerset could make sense. I got this far, then thought to check the newly available Will Indexes for GELL. Didn't find Kate, but did find her second husband.
