Warren?? I'm beginning to wonder if his parents are Hugh Warren and Jane Etherton. There is a marriage bond for them in GC records, same day and same bondman as Nathan Warren (see below). I received his pension file and pulled and listed the highlights below. If Arabell Skaggs is his sister, then Jane (Etherton) Davis would be his mother? Do you have any information that would shed light on the relationship of Hugh and Jane and possible children. Warren: [there were 3 claims made after the death of John D. Warren; two widows claims and one minor claim by John A. Skaggs gdn] WIDOW: Susan A. (Skaggs) Warren Warren [d. beginning of the year in 1895] Susan's claim was denied after Nancy filed claim that she and John never divorced. WIDOW: Nancy A. (DeSpain) Warren Johnson Lee [d. 2 May 1927] Nancy's claim is eventually upheld and certified since she and John never divorced and her subsequent husbands were both dead. MINOR: Calvin Warren, John A. Skaggs gdn Minors claim was denied after Nancy filed claim that she and John never divorced. Minor's were declared illigitimate, due to subsequent marriages of John and Nancy declared null and void. attest 9 Sep 1899: Joseph Warren: I am 59 years old. I was distantly related to John D. Warren. Susan A. was married to my deceased brother Mitchell. She died within about 1 year after John D. died. attest 19 Sep 1899 John T. Warren: I was distantly related to John D. Warren. Susan A. was married to my late Uncle Mitchell Warren. attest 19 Sep 1899 Edward L. DeSpain: He is brother of Nancy. Nancy married John D. Warren. They separated but never divorced. She married John Lee, they separated. She married Asa Johnson and lived with him until he died. attest [no date] Martha Johnson, widow: John Lee was my brother in law. Nancy married John D. Warren. She next married Asa Johnson and lived with him until he died. She next married John Lee; they separated. Nancy is known as Nancy Johnson. Special Examiner of pensions [no date] Nancy m. John Warren 22 May 1859 Nancy m. Asa Johnson abt 1865-1866; he died about 1880 Nancy m. John abt 1883; separated about 1885 and he moved to Arkansas. Pensioner and claimant each married twice subsequent and those marriages are null and void. attest 19 Sep 1899 Nancy: John Lee left me 6 or 7 months after marriage and he moved to Arkansas. About 3 or 4 years ago I got word he died in Arkansas. My nephew Dick Carlyle wrote me that John Lee was dead. attest [no date] John F. Holthouser: John D. Warren known by nickname John Whittle.
