A Eli Warren and wife Amy had a daughter Maria Warren (born 7 May 1789) baptized on 30 Jan 1790 at St. George's Church, Dagsboro Hundred. Eli was listed on the Reconstructed 1790 Census of Sussex Co., De in Broadkill (Broadkiln) Hd. Eli Warren was dead before 14 Nov. 1795 when his father, Wrixam Warren, wrote his will, which mentions Eli's son William and Eli's widow (not named). Also mentioned in Wrixam Warren's will was a grandson Purnal Warren. On 14 February 1807, Charles Dickerson petitioned the Sussex County Orphans Court that Purnel Warren, late of Broadkiln Hd, dec'd, was seized of land in Cedar Creek Hd, and that he had died intestate and without issue, he left two sisters; Sally, the wife of your petitioner (Charles Dickerson) and Polley Warren, petition to divide lands. Ishmael Steel, Zachariah Reynolds, William Robbins, Bethuel Watson & Curtis Shockley were appointed to divide said lands. (Sussex Orphans Court Records, Lib. IJ fol. 517) Does anyone know if Purnel / Purnal Warren was the son of Eli Warren or one of his brothers? I would appreciate any help with this family.
