Surnames: Warren Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WZVBAIB/3368.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Doug: First the Warren's of Pulaski Co., Ky are a group all to there selves, I have traced them from when they first come into Lincoln Co., Ky. in ca1785 with land records etc. To understand this group of Warrens you have to go back to Amherst Co., Va. where they come from. Several books relate to them such as the Dairy of Rev. Robert Rose, who died in 1751 he baptized our Charles Warren in 6-3-1750 Rev. Rose also married Eleanor Mildred Warren 10-26-1747 to John Rucker, Jr. the History of this group is unbelivable. According to Rev. Rose Dairy Eleanor's brother John Warren & James Warren, Jr. owned a copper mine patent for 1,000 years. There father was James Warren, Sr. his will is in the Library of Virginia dated 7-3-1769 Amherst Co., Va. ========================================== Notes for John Warren, Sr. alias Jno "Copper" Warren born ca1716 Albemarke/Amherst Co., Va. In July 1741 James Warren's son John lived in a separate household on Moores Creek For two pounds sterling John Warren, James son, was awarded a patent on 376 acres of land on the north side of Buffalo Ridge in Albemarle Co. adjacent to James Warren lands. The date was Sept. 20, 1748. The patent on James adjacent land of 400 acres lying on both sides of Stoney "Rocky" Run, a branch of Buffalo River was not official until Sept. 5, 1749. James also paid two pounds sterling. These two tracts were in present day Amherst Co. 40 miles or more from James & John's former homes near Rivanna River. The new lands lay approximately 4 miles East of the present town of Amherst, along the Northward flowing Rocky Creek, a streem between the town and Buffalo Ridge.Rocky Creek flows into the Buffalo river some 3 miles Southwest of the entrance of Buffalo River into Nelson County. 20 Oct 1786, Jno Warren, Sr. deeded to Benjamin Warren both of Amherst Co. 25 acres adjoining John Harvey, new road, Wm Dillard, and Peter Joyner Lines. Warren and using his information and the book of Sudie Rucker book this is how the lineage should be. NOTE See also the following surname(s): Warrin. 9-20-1748 376 acres of land in Albemarle Co., Va. ========================================== So Doug this is only the beginning this line will take you back to Poynton, Cheshire, England then back to Normandy, France where the first Warren was named William de Warenne of Normandy, France who married Miss de Tora the dauaghter of Ralph de Tora, there son was William de Warenne b 1027-1028 Normandy, France he married Gundred daughter of William the Conqueror from this point down to when they come into the USA I have 2 pedigree charts for proof one is dated using the Monarch reign for their dating system such as 44Edw3=1371. My research in the USA has been through the wonderful work of Dr. Holland Warren who wrote the 11 page Summary on our line. I have done extensive research in Pulaski Co. mostly on the OLD ones. Our line comes from Liberty Warren b 1815 & married 10-26-1837 Nancy Hasty s/o Peter Warren b1784 Amherst Co., Va. I would love to help you in anyway I can like I said most of my records are involving the Old Warren's I know which ones stayed there and the ones that left, if that is any help to you.
