I am an S. Warren, too! My great grandfather, according to the 1881 Census, was William WARREN, born 1820 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada (Portland, now known as the "North End"). Of course, I do not think this is the Warren you are looking for.....and, in addition, he was also married to an "Ann" although it is not mentioned on this record....may have been a second wife. Strange co-incidences??!! I have no idea where my great grandfather came from....could have been the States, i.e., a Loyalist, or maybe he did come from Britain. Anybody who has pertinent information, please let me know. Something else of interest....I just happened to pick up an old book of mine, "Touch the Earth" - A Self-Portrait of Indian Existence....compiled by T.C. McLuhan. The first page I turned to mentioned another William (W.) WARREN born in May 1825, the son of an Ojibway mother and a white father. His ancestry revealed that he was a descendant of Richard Warren, one of the "Mayflower" pilgrims who landed in Plymouth in 1620, etc., etc. What do you think of that?! I know DonSilentBear is on this WARREN mailing list....is this the information you have, Don re Warrens with Native backgrounds?
