It is the only tool we have other than paper trails. If you read the Surname Project in Family Tree DNA you will find in some Surname Projects there is a scramble to figure out lines where the DNA does not match and lines they thought went together don't now. It is the only tool we have now. People testing with other companies can put their results in y-Search.org to see if they have matches with others. I am in five different surname projects and have been pleased with my connections made to others who have the same DNA as a result of the DNA testing.
