Yes indeed, Daniel (Dracien or Racine) played around a little. A couple of my aunts did a lot of research on him and found out that he disappeared on Patience Woodard and their six kids around 1860 I believe and started a new marriage. He married Jane "Jennie" (Preston), fathered three children with her, then left her in September of 1867. In the meantime he supposedly had a child with Euseba Cook, who according to Newman S. Preston (Jennie's cousin), was the reason he left Jennie. In the 1865 New York state census, pg 37, Gerry, Chautauqua County #239. Given by "Racine" Warren 40 b. Delaware (Co) 2nd marr; voter, millwright. Jane Warren 23 b. Chaut (Co); 1st marr; 1 ch - not named. This census also includes information given by those who served in the Civil War. Given by Warren: Regiment: 45th Co PA; Entered 3 Aug 1861 as a private; promoted to Sgt; served 39 months; wounded -- "health permanently impaired". In "History of Pennsylvania Volunteers 1861-5" by Samuel P. Bates, In Compliance with Acts of the Legislature, p1095 Company F 45th Regiment Warren, Daniel C., Pvt; Mustered into service Sept 2 1861 for 3 years. Wounded at Antietam Sept 17, 1862 - mustered out Oct 20 1864 - expiration of term. (There is no Dracien or Racine Warren in this Regiment). Daniel passed on his philandering ways to his son (my great grandfather) Earl Joel Warren, who abandoned his wife (Lillian Anna True) and kids (Charles, Ella & George) after his service in the Spanish American War 40 years after his father. He's buried in Los Angeles. My grandmother, Ella Lillian "Nellie" Warren , was Joel's daughter. Lillian and Nellie are buried about ten miles up the road from me in the Marysville Cemetery in Marysville, Washington. I would be happy to correspond with you Rosemary. Sincerely, Ron Frazier Everett, WA amoska@gte.net
