    1. Re: [WARREN] Warren Children Under Guardianship--Chickasaw Co., MS--1850's
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: WCarah Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.warren/4409.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Regarding Franklin co., AL, there are a number of Warren's in the 1860 census, but no Horace. I am inclined to believe Horace bought land in Chickasaw Co., MS for speculative purposes in the early 1840's as he never seems to have settled on any of the 4 parcels he bought. He may be deceased as of the 1860 census. The other Warren's in 1860 Franklin Co., AL census include: Jerimiah, age 82, b. AL (yours I believe) Charles, age 26, b. AL (appears next door to above) John H., age 32, b. AL John M., age 25, b. KY John W., age 37, b. AL M.J., age 37, b. Ireland William, age 62, b. KY William Jr., age 31, b. AL (appears next door to above) Back to Mississippi, I have found a candidate couple in Chickasaw Co., MS who may be the actual parents of the three children in the custody of Nancy Hiner in the 1860 census. In the 1850 Chickasaw Co. census there is a P.R. Warren, age 22, b. TN, married to a Sarah A., Age 17, b. GA. They are childless and live with a William Sims who is a merchant. P.R. Warren is a clerk in the store. It seems quite possible that P.R. and Sarah Warren were the parents of John, Rhody and Lester Warren. I say this because the young couple lived next door to the Hiner's in the 1850 Chickasaw census. By 1860, something has caused the Hiner's to have the Warren children in their household and there is not a sign of P.R. or Sarah Warren. Perhaps the parents died in an accident or, more likely, a cholera or typhoid epidemic. Now the tought part starts--trying to find a "P.R. Warren." Thanks for your input. Regards, Warren Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
