    3. Thank you Bob: Maybe you need to do it, I am so busy you would not believe. I also would appreciaate all the help I can get. 3. The idea of searching by unusual first name is a great one. I had an ancestor of another surname, who married a woman with first name of Modena. It was a brick wall. Early research had her married to a different brother! I searched early census data -- 1800, 1810, 1820 -- found family of an Elizuer, whom I thought might be my GG Grandfather; but no way to tell if it was my guy - and family members were not named in early censuses. Finally, in 1830, while searching for all Modena women in the US, she turned up in the same location where Elizuer was found. So, he had died in the last 10 years, and she was head of the family -- by comparing distribution of children and ages, I could confirm they were the same family I was looking for. They had relocated from another part of the state, and were living near a son... who also had a rather unusual first name. 2. Your best bet may be to look up the family in the 1930 census and work backwards. Search for them by their location and family make-up. Children with unusual names are sometimes easier to search for than parents with common first names. If you don't have access to the census, I could see if I could find them (I'd need all the names and approximate birth dates as well as where they lived). 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: maryachtrh Surnames: Classification: marriage Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.warren/4722/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Article from the Terrell Times-Star, Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas, 11 November 1892 reads... Chrysanthemum Wedding Mr. J. W. Warren and Miss Ida Cannon were married at the Methodist Church last Wednesday evening in the presence of a vast concourse of the friends and relatives of the contracting parties. The ceremony, as pronounced by Rev. F. A. Rosser, was beautiful and impressive. The nuptial bower presented a picture rare in beauty and design. Two large arches, intersecting at right angles, were artistically decorated with cedar and chrysanthemums and from the point of intersection hung a miniature umbrella beautifully illuminated by an electric light which descended from the center showing with indescribable effect the beautiful array of chrysanthemums with which it was festooned. On either side of the large arches, marking the entrances from the aisles into the bower, two smaller arches were erected which were likewise beautifully decorated. the bridal party with the attendant groomsmen and bridesmaids were ushered into the church by Messrs. Childrees, Scott, Galbraith and Cowle! s, to the strains of the wdding march executed by Mrs. Fountaine. They came in the following order: Bridesmaids: Misses Laura Shook, Anna LaRoe, Misses Ethel Cowles, Ninnie Simpson, Misses Lillie Rowell, Susie Warren. Groomsmen: Messrs. A. H. Dashiell, D. M. Purvine, Messrs. Con McClung, E. R. Bmpass, Messrs. Frank Bell, of Dallas, C. M. Crumbaugh. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Jeanette Cannon, the groom by his brother, Mr. R. L. Warren. The couple took their position under the shadow of the beautiful umbrella above mentioned while about them in beauteous array were grouped the attendants and ushers, the ladies on the right, the gentlemen on the left. The ceremony was pronounced and the exit was made in the same impressive and ceremonious manner. The party repaired to the residence of Mrs. B. E. Warren, where a brilliant reception was held and congratulations, numerous and heartfelt, were tendered Mr. and Mrs. Warren. The bride was a perfect picture of loveliness, attired in a beautiful costume of Russian crepe of silken wool, trimmed with chantilly lace. She wore the customary bridal veil and ornaments. The bridesmaids were resplendent in costumes similar to that worn by the bride, each having a bridal bouquet of chrysanthemums and ornaments to suit. The gentlemen were fittingly attired in black and wore buttonhole bouquets of chrysanthemums. At the home of Mrs. Warren a repast was served which for elegance and excellence defies description, attended by the cutting of the usual wedding cake, in the savery depths of which were contained the usual ring, darning needle and money piece. The fortunate recipients of these splendid hospitalities were loath to leave the scene where so much pleasure abounded and it was 12 o'clock before they bid adieu to Mr. and Mrs. Warren, all bespeaking for them that peace and happiness throughout life which is the one inevitable result of a truly happy u! nion, such as theirs. Mr. and Mrs. Warren were the recipients of many handsome presents of which the following is a complete list: Mrs. B. E. I didn't know where to start or which trail to follow until I entered the Family Tree DNA Project under the surname of Warren. If you go to this site, order a kit, you will find after your results are posted, in most cases, which family line you are from and it will help you know who to contact or to make posts that will help you. My Warren tested out Rappahannok line from Virginia and that put me in contact with those who I'm working with now. Go to: Click on: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/warren/default.aspx Then click on the left side of the page where it says: REQUEST TO JOIN THIS GROUP -- now after you are into the next page, find the #2. on the page and follow the directions to order a kit. (usually, 25 - 37 markers is best but 12 is better than nothing.) When you test only 12 markers, you sometimes match a lot of other surnames. It is the additional markers that make the separation that helps. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
